King of the Jungle | El Tigre Custom Birthday Cake

This cake was extra special to me 💛

Not every cake I make is just “another order.” Some cakes carry memories, emotions, inside jokes, nicknames, and little pieces of the people I love most.

“El Tigre” is what we call my two younger kids’ father 🐅
Strong, protective, stubborn sometimes 😅… but also someone with a huge heart for family.

For his birthday, I wanted to create something personal — not overly fancy, not perfect, but meaningful. Something that felt like him.

This year, the kids and I wanted to make the night feel special from beginning to end. We dressed up, set the table together, played music in the background, and waited for him to come home from work so we could celebrate as a family.

I made a full three-course dinner:
✨ Bruschetta for the appetizer
✨ Chicken cordon bleu with white wine sauce, asparagus, and A Peruvian-style potato lasagna dish his mom made(ahhh perdón suegra 😭 se me olvidó el nombre) for the main course
✨ And of course, a custom birthday cake for dessert 👑

One thing I’ve learned while building Mariposas is that baking has become more than sweets for me.

It’s become:
Late nights in the kitchen.
Kids asking for frosting tastes.
Trying new ideas even when I doubt myself.
Creating memories for the people I love.

Sometimes life gets messy and overwhelming, but creating things with my hands brings me peace again.

This cake reminded me why I started 🦋
