DENTAL CROWNS
Restorative Dental Crowns
Many people who are missing multiple teeth elect to have a dental crown installed as opposed to choosing dentures or dental implants. Whether you should choose a dental crown over the other options available is determined by your preference, sensitivity to cost, and desire for convenience.
What Is A Crown?
A dental crown is a type of cap placed on top of a damaged tooth. We typically recommend dental crowns when:
Your tooth has a very large filling that is bigger than your natural tooth structure.
Your tooth had root canal therapy.
You have a combination of root canal therapy and a large filling.
You need a crown for cosmetic reasons.
Are you suffering from a cracked, chipped or broken tooth? A crown may be the perfect solution for you! It's a painless and short process and can immediately restore confidence in your smile along with providing relief in being able to chew comfortably. Contact us today and let's talk through the best options for you.
PROCEDURE FOR DENTAL CROWNS
First Visit
Initial examination to determine needed treatment
Second Visit
Prep and crown fabrication in office with final delivery same day.
Local anesthesia will be used to numb the area so that Dr. Woodyard may prepare the tooth for bonding. This includes removing areas of decay and reshaping the surface of the tooth to make room for the crown. Temporary cement will be used to place the temporary crown and your bite will be checked to ensure proper functionality of the temporary crown.
At the second appointment, Dr. Woodyard will remove the temporary crown and clean the surface with a special solution that makes for optimal bonding of the permanent crown. Your bite will again be checked to ensure ideal functionality before the custom crown is bonded in place by a permanent adhesive.
Dr. Woodyard will provide you with care instructions on how to extend the life of your new dental crown. As always, you can expect that he will urge you to practice the proper oral hygiene and preventative care treatments in an effort to extend the life of your newly restored smile. With the proper care, your new dental crown should serve you well for many years to come.

Dr. Woodyard has been my general dentist for more than 10 years and he’s always been so concerned and professional. He is up to date on all the newest innovative treatments. He has done several crowns for me and I was able to get it all done in one day since they were made with the latest technology in house by Dr. Woodyard. I would highly recommend him for all dental needs.

Best dentist I've been to! Very professional operation in all respects. Love that Dr. Woodyard does the majority of usual procedures right in house -- including crowns and root canals. Getting a crown in one visit is truly amazing. Mary is a wonderful hygienist with a solid knowledge of her area of expertise. You won't be disappointed!
