Far too many local children enter school at a disadvantage, without books at home or access to the joy or reading. By the third grade, nearly half are scoring "below proficient" in standardized tests. This gap limits their opportunities and dims their dreams.
We're working to change this, putting new, high-quality books in the hands or families throughout Gary and the surrounding areas. When children have books, they discover new worlds, grow their imagination, and improve their chances for success.
We believe that 100% literacy comes from 100% community involvement. That's why we're reaching out to ask for your support. Your gift today means more stories at bedtime, more earning for families, and a stronger, more empowered community for all.
