What an incredible day on the water and ashore! Whether you volunteered your time, cheered on a racer, trimmed sails in light air, braved the blazing sun, showcased your culinary or musical talents, or even brought the stage to life with your acting skills—it truly took all of us to make today a success.
We set out aiming for a perfect event, and if by your standards we fell short, please know we are listening and determined to impress you in the future. If there is ever a way we can support you, or if I can be of service personally, you know how to reach me.
To our partners across the lake who shared not only their resources but also their most precious gift—time—thank you. Your seamanship, professionalism, creativity, and camaraderie elevated this event and gave us valuable lessons we will carry forward.
To our racers— thank you! It was a joy to watch you trim sails and tack your way across the course, even as you battled the challenges of Texas weather. Your perseverance and spirit are what make this sport so inspiring. Looking for the Results? Click Here!
To our sponsors—there are simply no words to match our gratitude. You made the giveaways exciting, helped us stretch our budget, and shared your property, products, and resources with us. We could not have done this without you, and we look forward to supporting your businesses for years to come.
To our members—you are the heart of this club. Without you, there is no reason for our efforts. Your contributions to make this a successful event do not go unnoticed. And for those of you who came out of retirement to support the sport—we appreciate you.
And to our Title Sponsor- The Sapphire Bay Marina—thank you for your unwavering support. You gave us the freedom to dream big, to stretch our imaginations, and to bring sailing—and a little theater—to the forefront of our community’s mind, if only for today. Because of you, we made new fans of this great sport, and for that, we are truly grateful.
At the end of the day, our north star is clear. This regatta was never meant to be just a race—it was designed as part of our larger mission to promote the sport of sailing and showcase the vibrant opportunities here at Lake Ray Hubbard. By hosting an event that was fun and welcoming, we hoped to spark interest in sailing, attract new sailors and spectators, and strengthen relationships across the regional sailing community.
We hope that Bob Barnes—and those fortunate enough to have known him—would be proud of what we accomplished together.
On behalf of the Sapphire Bay Yacht Club, our Planning Committee and our Executive Committee, thank you again for making today possible. We are already looking forward to hoisting sails with you again soon.
In fact....We'll see you at the Sept 27 - George Griffith Regatta!
With gratitude,
Maria Coleman
Sapphire Bay Yacht Club
Founded in 2017 by Bob Barnes as Bayside Sailing Club, Sapphire Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) has grown into a welcoming haven for boaters and lake enthusiasts. Those who knew Bob say he loved a good time — and he believed racing should be fun, competitive, and welcoming. He encouraged newcomers to join Wednesday evenings at the marina, reminding us all that sailing is about community as much as competition.
Thank you for your support in carrying forward that same spirit. While our name and reach have evolved, our core mission and values remain true to Bob’s original vision—bringing people together through a shared love of the water.
For this year’s Bob Barnes Memorial Regatta & Nautical Carnival, we partnered with an incredible group of sponsors who helped make the event possible. Their generosity and commitment to our sailing community allowed us to create a memorable day on the water and a lively celebration dockside. We encourage you to continue supporting these local businesses and organizations as they supported us—click any logo below to learn more.
