Still Called. Still Becoming.

Ready for the Future.

Rev. Dr. Lisa Jenkins Brown is a trailblazing leader, prophetic preacher, cultural strategist, and lifelong learner whose ministry has reached pulpits, classrooms, boardrooms, and communities across the globe. Licensed to preach in 1997 at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Flushing, Queens under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Timothy P. Mitchell, and ordained in 2002 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Jamaica, Queens under the leadership of her pastor, Rev. Dr. Victor T. Hall, Sr., Dr. Brown made history as the first woman to pastor both Blessed Trinity Baptist Church, Harlem (2008–2013) and St. Matthew’s Baptist Church of Harlem (2013–present).

As a single mother, she raised her son while caring for both her parents, completing her Master of Divinity at New York Theological Seminary and working full-time. She later completed her Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Her reach extends far beyond the sanctuary. Dr. Brown is an adjunct professor with the City University of New York and has served on the faculties of Fuller Theological Seminary and New York Theological Seminary. She has lectured at the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and Hebrew Union College, and collaborated with the Interreligious Center at JTS to advance interfaith dialogue and justice-centered education.

Through her company, LDJ Global Connections, she provides leadership focused on cultural competency and strategic guidance to clients, including Oracle, Shiseido, the American Cancer Society, and the American Management Association, among others. A Certified Speaking Professional and Certified Virtual Presenter, her voice has been heard across the United States, Canada, and Indonesia. It has been featured on NY1 News, Good Day New York, and in The New York Times, and The Washington Post.

Before entering pastoral ministry, Dr. Brown expressed her gifts through the arts and media. In 1994, she sang on Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir’s Grammy Award-winning album Live at Morehouse College. She was a radio announcer for 1160 WINS and a member of the world-famous Apollo Models, reflecting her lifelong love for creativity, culture, and communication.

She is the author of three books and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Borough President of Manhattan previously appointed her to serve on Community Board 10 and the Rikers Island Task Force. Dr. Brown was a Faith & Justice Fellow with FPWA and was recently voted as one of New York State's 100 Most Influential Faith Leaders. Her life is one of purpose, power, and prophetic possibility. Dr. Brown is married to Deacon Vincent S. Brown, and together they share one adult son, Jordan C. Jenkins, as a blended family.

As she steps down from full-time pastoral leadership, Dr. Brown is not stepping away from ministry. She is expanding its reach. Whether in lecture halls, leadership forums, or legacy-building projects, she continues to inspire, teach, and transform.

Join us as we celebrate the extraordinary journey of a woman who is Still Called and Still Becoming.
