Fire in the Outback
Have you ever read the book of Acts and longed to see that kind of apostolic action today? In Acts 13, the Holy Spirit spoke clearly: “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I’ve called them.” Following this, the church fasted, prayed, laid hands on them, and sent them out.
Bp Barry recently experienced his own “Acts 13 moment” of commissioning on the Gold Coast at the River Church, and we are excited to share the videos of this powerful occasion with you.
The first two videos Ps Dale Smith from the River Church, who is also the president of ICFM in Australia (of which Bp Barry is a member) explains the background of the commissioning and introduces Bp Barry who shares a message prior to this wonderful occasion.
A Divine Sending
In the third video, you will witness the actual commissioning of Bishop Barry Cunnington. This was not just a standard prayer; it was a definitive “sending” conducted by Pastor Dale and Ruth Smith.
As hands were laid upon him, it was a time to release the biblical anointing for the work ahead, acknowledging that this mission is “not by might nor power but by the Holy Spirit”. The prayer focused on the resending of him, in the same manner as he and his wife, Ps Sandra Cunnington, were sent from that same building 27 years prior to pioneer the Tent of Promise. This time he was being sent to establish Promise Faith Centre Churches International and God's Love Crusades at the Go Forth Faith Arena "Australia's Bush Cathedral" in Alectown, NSW for ministry in the Central West NSW region and beyond.
The Prophetic Vision: Fire in the Outback
During this commissioning, a profound prophetic word was released: “Fire in the Outback”.
Just as we have seen natural fires impact our nation, the vision is for spiritual fires of revival to burn through the dry places of Australia.
• A Spread of Revival: It won’t be just one revival fire, but “many, many fires” burning through outback country towns.
• Impact on Cities: The move of God will be so strong in the regional areas that people will actually come from the cities to visit the revival.
• Healing the Land: As the fire of God falls, it is going to burn up the dross—cleansing towns of suicide, drug use, and domestic abuse, replacing hopelessness with the glory of God.
The Great South Land of the Holy Spirit
This commissioning is about more than just a few towns; it is about the destiny of Australia. The prayers declared that this nation is indeed the “Great South Land of the Holy Spirit”.
The video shares a vision of hands joining from the East Coast to the West Coast, with rivers of living water flowing out from the middle of the nation. It is a call to reignite old places of revival and see “bushies” equipped, fired up, and sent out to the nations and the islands from our Promise Faith headquarters, the Go Forth Faith Arena in Alectown.
