The Mustang Project

Presented by West Taylor-Science Based Horsemanship

A Live, Online Experience observing Science-Based coaching with a real Mustang — Week by Week.

The Mustang Project exists to help mustangs and their owners build connection together by slowing the process down and prioritizing safety, clarity, and the right environment before performance.

Most people never get to see what actually changes the outcome. This experience lets you observe it unfold — in real time, week by week.

Starting March 1st 4pm Mtn

Watch real coaching with a real mustang and a real owner. No highlight reels. No shortcuts. Just the moments that determine whether connection and learning can happen.

Where Science and Mother Nature come together to speak for the Mustang.

Live weekly episodes • Replays included • Observer-friendly community

This is our give-back to the Mustang Community.

Mustangs don’t fail because they’re “too much.”

They struggle because they’re rushed, misunderstood, and asked to perform before safety and clarity are in place.

The Mustang Project was created as a way to slow the process down — not just for the horse, but for the human.

By letting people observe real, science-based coaching in real time, this experience helps more mustangs find safety and connection, before they’re passed from home to home.

This isn’t about entertainment.

It’s about education, awareness, and changing outcomes — one mustang at a time.

How the Mustang Experience Works

Join the live weekly episode, watch real coaching unfold, and learn by observing — with replays and community support.

  •   Join the weekly live episode (Zoom) and observe real coaching in real time

   •   Watch the replay if you can’t attend live

   •   Learn with the community as you follow the story week by week

You can participate as little or as much as you want. Many members simply observe and learn — and that’s the point.

Season 1: Betsy & Her First Mustang

A seasoned horse owner follows her lifelong dream — adopting and training her very first mustang.

Betsy has years of experience with horses — but like most people, she’s never started a mustang from the beginning.

This experience documents what happens when preparation, science, patience, and curiosity replace pressure and expectation.

You won’t see a polished highlight reel.

You’ll see the real moments that determine whether safety, connection, and learning can happen.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about understanding what actually helps a mustang succeed.

What You’ll Learn by Observing

This experience teaches you what actually helps a mustang feel safe, learn, and succeed — without forcing outcomes.

  • How pressure, timing, and environment affect a mustang’s nervous system

  • Why rushing the process creates resistance and setbacks

  • What real regulation looks like before training ever begins

  • How humans unknowingly create confusion — and how to fix it

  • Why observation is often the fastest way to learn

You don’t need to “do” anything to benefit from this experience.

Many members simply watch — and that’s where the learning happens.

Who This Experience Is For

This experience is designed for horse people who want to understand why things unfold the way they do — not just what to do next.

  • You’re curious about horse behavior, nervous systems, and learning

  • You're willing to slow things down and see the whole picture

  • You learn well by watching and listening — not just doing

  • You care about safety, clarity, and fairness, especially with mustangs

  • You value real situations over polished demonstrations

What You’ll Actually Experience

This is not a course or a polished demonstration. It’s a live, unfolding experience you’re invited to observe week by week.

  • Weekly live sessions observing real science-based horsemanship

  • A mustang and human learning together in real time

  • Commentary that explains what’s happening and why it matters

  • Access to replays if you can’t attend live

  • A quiet, thoughtful community of observers learning together

You don’t need to participate, perform, or prepare. Many members simply watch — and that’s where the learning happens.

Why Observation Works

Observation keeps you out of “performance mode.” When there’s no pressure to get it right, your nervous system stays regulated — and you can actually notice timing, patterns, and cause-and-effect.

  • You see real moments unfold — not rehearsed demos

  • You learn what to reinforce, and what to ignore

  • You start recognizing regulation vs up-regulation in real time

  • You walk away with a clearer, calmer plan for your own horse

How the Mustang Experience Is Structured

Simple, consistent, and easy to follow — even if you’re brand new to this kind of experience.

  • Weekly live Zoom “episode” where you observe real coaching in real time

  • West narrates what’s happening and explains the “why” behind timing, pressure/release, and regulation

  • Replay access for every session if you can’t attend live

  • Community space to ask questions, share takeaways, and learn with other observers

  • Occasional scholarship coaching spots for select mustang owners (when available)

You can join live, watch the replay, or do both. No pressure — the learning still lands.

Who This Helps the Most

If you’ve ever felt like you’re “too close to the problem” with your own horse, this is where observation becomes powerful.

  • You want a calmer, clearer way to read what your horse is communicating

  • You learn best by watching real situations unfold, not perfect demos

  • You’ve tried methods that felt rushed, forceful, or confusing

  • You care about mustangs getting a fair shot through safety and clarity first

  • You want language and patterns you can apply to your own horse immediately

Most members join because they want a better lens — then they stay because the learning feels real and doable.

Why West built this

I built the Mustang Experience because I’ve watched the same story play out over and over: a good horse and a good human get stuck, not because they’re broken — but because their nervous systems get overwhelmed and the environment stops feeling safe.

When we slow things down and create clarity first, everything changes. The horse can think. The human can see. And progress stops feeling like a fight.

(That’s the “why” without turning it into a full bio.)

  • Science-Based Horsemanship focused on regulation, timing, and clear communication

  • Real coaching in real moments — no scripts, no polishing

  • Built for mustang owners and horse people who want safer, calmer progress

This isn’t about proving anything. It’s about giving a mustang a fair shot — and giving horse people a calmer way to learn.
