BENEFITS OF ICE AFTER AN INJURY
Ice therapy is a simple and effective way to support healing after an injury. When a muscle, joint, or soft tissue is injured, the body responds with inflammation, swelling, and pain. Applying ice soon after an injury can reduce swelling, limit tissue irritation, and numb sore areas. This can make movement more comfortable and help prevent stiffness during early recovery.
Using ice for short periods, especially within the first 24–48 hours after an injury, may help manage pain and calm inflammation. Research shows that cold therapy can be helpful for acute injuries by reducing discomfort and supporting the body’s natural healing response.
