Is Your Holiday Spirit Feeling Like A Cotton-Headed Ninny Muggins?

I’m spending a few days in Calgary attending some really fun Christmas events, getting inspired to create some incredible events for clients. It probably wasn’t the best time to get away. There was lots going on at home, the weather was not ideal and December is already full with lots of things. But, but gut said ‘GO’ and I’m so glad I did. Changing up the scenery, trying new things and having new experiences always fills my bucket!

If December beginning is already making you feel like you are overwhelmed… friendly reminder….it’s ok not to have it all together. As we enter the busy season of winter celebrations, it can feel equal parts exciting and exhausting.

Ask yourself this when planning (or attending) a gathering or event during this holiday season….What do I need right now?

During this time of year, you may be receiving many invitations. Rather than responding right away based on whether you’re available, consider your intentions and how you wish to be spending your time. When you receive an invitation, pause and notice in your body how it feels. Am I feeling dread looking at this invitation? Am I feeling joy? Am I tired but open to where this will go? Then ask yourself who you want to be around — whether it’s for comfort or delight or whatever you might need — and who you want to connect with at a later time. Then, you can reply with a “chosen yes” or a “connected no.”

This might be a season filled with grief amidst trying to celebrate the holidays. Gathering is not the sole cure for our pain, but being together in nourishing ways can give some relief and respite.

With JOY,
