Helping Dogs Behave & Humans Breathe Easy Since 2015

real-life training that actually works

My Story

Back in 2015, I started fostering dogs and quickly learned one thing: most dogs aren’t “bad”—they’re just misunderstood. That lightbulb moment led me down a path I never looked back from. Fast forward through over 600 foster dogs and 1,500+ families later… and here I am, still loving every moment of helping people connect with their dogs on a whole new level.

Mission & Values

As The Bearded Dog Trainer, my mission is to help real people raise real dogs—without stress, shame, or outdated advice. Just solid, relationship-based training (and a little humor along the way).

I believe in:

  • Building trust through positive, respectful methods

  • Keeping it judgment-free—we’ve all been there

  • Practical tools that work in your real life

  • Teaching humans and dogs, together as a team

Just partnership, patience, and a few good treats.

Experience & Wins

  • Over 600 dogs fostered and trained

  • Helped 1,500+ families build better lives with their dog

  • Special love for misunderstood rescues and leash-reactive pups

  • Expert at turning “uh oh” behaviors into “heck yes!” moments

  • Owner of four amazing dogs (Pepita, Naiya, Zeus & Meeko)

  • Bonus roommate: one very judgmental cat named Pesca 😼

What Our Clients are Saying

"Carlo is approachable, caring and an excellent trainer"

"Carlo trained my year old dog (stray in LA) with a very strong personality.

Pit mixes are my breed, but this one was very strong willed compared to the others I’ve had.

Carlo worked consistently with Zoe for six weeks. In addition to Zoe, he worked with me, helping me to understand how to continue her training at home.

I interviewed six trainers before I found him. But once I had a conversation with him, I knew I had found ‘our’ trainer.

Zoe and I continue to work together daily. Carlo gave Zoe an excellent foundation, and I am forever thankful to him for helping us."

- Mary Ann with dog Zoe

"People are constantly impressed by our dogs' behavior"

"Whether your dog needs to brush up on manners or needs reactivity training, Carlo can help. I have three dogs who all have very different needs and issues. Not only did Carlo give us a fantastic foundation for our training journey, but he gave us new tactics to work on the issues. When they came home to us, they were walking at a perfect heel and were place-trained.

We continued building on those skills, and our dogs can now ignore triggers and sit and make eye contact more 4/5 times when encountering animals. People are constantly impressed by our dogs' behavior, and we owe a lot of that to Carlo's help.

Watching Carlo handle my dogs made me want to be better at handling and training, which helped me make training a daily routine."

Fun Facts

I’ve trained dogs in parks, kitchens, shelters… and once during a backyard BBQ

I reward people with progress and dogs with their food

I currently have four dogs, one cat, and zero personal space—but wouldn’t change it for the world.

Got a dog who won’t listen? Or maybe one who listens when they feel like it?
