The Art of Slow Mornings: How to Create a Grounded Morning Ritual

November 05, 20251 min read

I was always rushing my mornings, from teaching early morning classes to working out and getting ready to go to office — coffee, emails, workouts, all before my mind even caught up. But lately, I've started creating slower, more intentional mornings, I realized they set the tone for how I move through the entire day.

  1. Gentle Wake-Up
No phone for the first 30 minutes. I open the eyes, instead of thinking of all the things I have to do during the day, I start being grateful for the day and thinking of the great day that is just about to start. This helps me tune into my body instead of external noise.

  2. Drink Salt Water to hidrate
Lately, I’ve been drinking a warm cup of water with a pinch of celtic salt to hidrate and recover some electrolytes before going to teach or workout.

  3. Picking my outfit for workout or teach
I take some time to decide what I am going to wear, pairing colours with what my mood is for the day and what energy I need.

  4. Breathing and warming up

I always start my workouts with slow movements, some deep breathings and dynamic stretching so I can send the signal to my body that we are awake and ready to move.

  1. Movement and Music

Whether it’s a short Pilates flow, a strength routine or a walk with my dog, I like to move before I think. Movement helps me arrive fully into my day. I always pair this with nice music that goes with the mood.

A slow morning isn’t a luxury; it’s a form of self-respect. It’s how you tell your body: “You’re safe to start slow.”
