Media Release - City launches interactive maps online

City launches interactive maps online

Three new interactive maps have been added to the “I want to” tab of the City of Powell River’s website. These maps make it easier to find information on land and infrastructure.

The interactive maps were created using a geographic information system (GIS) which manages, analyzes, and maps various types of data. Users can search by address, parcel identifier (PID), roll number or plan number. Text, lines, and shapes can be added to the maps to print or share with others. This will enable residents, developers, consultants, and others to view and easily access information however, it is noted that the maps were created for convenience and reference only and are NOT considered accurate nor are they to be used as an official or legal document.

The Land Information Map provides parcel specific information, including a parcel identifier (PID), roll number, Jurisdiction and Roll Number (JUROL), legal description, plan number, and civic addresses. This map also shows contours, trails, lakes, Zoning Bylaw 2100, and OCP Land Use Bylaw 2370.

The Infrastructure Information Map shows the parcel specific information, but also includes storm utilities, sanitary utilities, and water utilities.

The Imagery Comparison Map includes aerial imagery from 2016 and 2021 which allows you to compare the changes in the landscape.
