It was allegiance.

Israel joined themselves.

Joined implies attachment.

Attachment reshapes loyalty.

And loyalty determines direction.

A plague broke out.

Consequences followed.

But one man—Phinehas—stood up with decisive zeal.

Not reckless anger.

Not emotional outrage.

But covenant conviction.

And the plague stopped.

Here is the tension.

Grace forgives.

But compromise still spreads if unchecked.

What have you “joined” yourself to?

Watch small shifts
Alignment changes before actions do.

Engagement should not equal imitation.

Respond early
Delay gives compromise roots.

Value holiness
Conviction protects covenant.

Not all compromise feels rebellious.

Some feels reasonable.

But loyalty reveals truth.

PRAYER:

Lord, expose subtle compromise in my life.
Guard my heart from attachments that shift my loyalty.
