The Wise Men visit Jesus
The Wise Men from the East see a special star and follow it to find Jesus. They bring Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honor Him as the new King.
King Herod’s plan
When King Herod hears about the birth of a new king, he feels threatened. He secretly makes a plan to kill baby Jesus in order to stay in power.
An angel warns Joseph
After Herod’s plan is revealed, an angel appears to Joseph in a dream and warns him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to keep them safe from Herod.
The flight to Egypt
Joseph obeys the angel’s warning, and he takes Mary and Jesus to Egypt, where they remain until it is safe to return.
The return to Nazareth
After King Herod dies, an angel tells Joseph it’s safe to go back to Israel. They settle in Nazareth, fulfilling the prophecy that Jesus would be called a Nazarene.
