Alecia is a native of West Virginia where she serves as an independent Licensed Professional Counselor.
She currently serves as Clinical Director to a diverse behavioral health staff of BIPOC clinicians with a variety in licensure offering culturally sensitive professional care. She is the founder of West Virginia's first fully established minority-owned and operated Licensed Behavioral Health Center credentialed with WV medicaid and all major insurance carriers. With more than 10 years experience in counseling, counseling education, non-profit leadership, and rural community development, she is passionate about working to address social and health disparities in her home state of WV, the heart of the Appalachian region. The practice has been intentionally structured as a social enterprise under the guise of a non-profit organization, Keep Your Faith Corporation, Inc (KYFC).
Alecia has served at KYFC, Inc. alongside committed partners from diverse community development sectors for several years to secure a variety of significant grant awards from foundation, state, regional, and federal funding agencies to support the mission of increasing the local behavioral health workforce. She has developed an internship track and career pathway leading to clinical employment for masters level counseling and social work students and graduates from accredited in-state universities who are committed to practicing in WV.
In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Alecia and colleagues will launch the state's first culturally competent clinical training institute with a focus on culturally sensitive behavioral healthcare for Appalachians as well as trauma informed community development (TIC) frameworks
