The Downside of Hiring Both Our AI Receptionist and a Virtual Assistant
(A brutally honest — and deeply unserious — exposé)
We need to be transparent for a moment.
Hiring both our AI Receptionist and a Virtual Assistant comes with some… consequences. Side effects, if you will. Unexpected outcomes. Shocking plot twists. And in the spirit of honesty, we feel obligated to share them with you:
1. Your office might run too smoothly. Customers get answered instantly. Appointments get booked correctly every time. Voicemails stop aging like expired milk. Before long, you’ll find yourself pacing the office like: ‘Is… is this what being caught up feels like? I don’t trust it.’
2. You may become freakishly productive. When the AI handles the predictable stuff and the VA handles the unpredictable stuff, you suddenly have free time. No more: ‘I couldn’t finish that — I was on the phone with the Building Department for three days and nights.’
It becomes: ‘Oh… I guess I can expand the business…or start that project. Weird.’
Excuses evaporate. Dopamine skyrockets. It’s unsettling, honestly.
3. Your customers become disturbingly polite. Once the AI answers instantly and the VA follows up like a customer-service ninja, something strange happens: Your customers…get nice. Uncomfortably nice. They start saying things like: ‘Take your time!’ and ‘No rush!’ and ‘We just appreciate you!’
Some even offer snacks to the crew. Snacks! Not expired granola bars — actual snacks purchased on purpose. We had one client who was given a pony.
4. You will become The Organized One. The VA organizes your schedule, files, inbox…your life. Next thing you know, you’re showing up early and prepared to meetings, remembering birthdays, and actually having your life all put together. Very dangerous territory. Your family is concerned. They don’t recognize you. You’ve tasted operational stability and there’s no turning back. Wait, did you just book a vacation?! People ask you ‘How do you do it?’ You lie and say ‘hydration’.
5. Your competitors spiral into paranoia.‘What’s their secret?’ ‘Did they hire a whole call center?’ ‘Are they bribing customers?’ Nope. Just technology and common sense…which, frankly, feels like cheating. But don’t worry – it’s not!
6. You’ll have time to think. Which could be dangerous. Because next thing you know, you’ll start improving processes, lowering stress, raising prices responsibly…and your whole identity as the Overwhelmed Contractor falls apart. Who even are you now? Someone with systems? Someone who sleeps? Someone who eats lunch before 4pm and goes to your children’s sporting events?
Madness!
So yes, there are “downsides.” But if you’re willing to risk:
-smooth operations
-happier customers
-a calmer team
-and looking like a genius…
…then the AI + VA bundle is probably for you.
Proceed with caution…and productivity.
