Allegations Against George Harris Jr.

George Harris Jr., a former geography teacher and water polo coach at El Segundo High School, is named in a lawsuit filed by three unidentified young men, alleging abuse that took place between 2002 and 2010.

The lawsuit also implicates the El Segundo Unified School District, claiming that officials were aware of the abuse yet allowed it to continue. According to the plaintiffs, Harris exploited his role as a trusted father figure and confidant, grooming, harassing, and abusing them over the years.

Harris began teaching in the El Segundo Unified School District in 1981 and joined the water polo coaching staff in 1991. He left the school in 2009 due to an undisclosed medical condition.
