In Deuteronomy chapter three, Israel defeated powerful kings.

First Sihon.

Then Og of Bashan.

These were not small victories.

These were major battles.

Strong enemies.

Fortified cities.

Difficult situations.

But here’s what makes this moment powerful.

These victories were not the final destination.

They were preparation.

Because the greater battles were still ahead—

Inside the Promised Land.

This reveals an important truth.

God often uses smaller victories to prepare us for bigger assignments.

Israel needed confidence.

Because when they would face Jericho…

And other strongholds…

They would remember:

“God has already given us victory before.”

Victory builds faith.

Experience builds confidence.

And preparation builds readiness.

God was not just leading Israel to a place.

He was shaping them into a people ready to possess it.

And this applies to our lives today.

Sometimes we ask God:

“Why am I going through this?”

“Why this challenge?”

“Why this battle?”

But what if the battle you’re facing today—

Is training for something greater ahead?

What if your current struggle is building the strength you will need tomorrow?

Because God does not waste battles.

He uses them.

To prepare you.
