(Deuteronomy 3 Study)
“So the Lord our God delivered into our hands Og also… and we smote him…”
Deuteronomy 3:3 (KJV)
================================
In Deuteronomy chapter three, Israel defeated powerful kings.
First Sihon.
Then Og of Bashan.
These were not small victories.
These were major battles.
Strong enemies.
Fortified cities.
Difficult situations.
But here’s what makes this moment powerful.
These victories were not the final destination.
They were preparation.
Because the greater battles were still ahead—
Inside the Promised Land.
This reveals an important truth.
God often uses smaller victories to prepare us for bigger assignments.
Israel needed confidence.
They needed experience.
They needed to see what God could do through them.
Because when they would face Jericho…
And other strongholds…
They would remember:
“God has already given us victory before.”
Victory builds faith.
Experience builds confidence.
And preparation builds readiness.
God was not just leading Israel to a place.
He was shaping them into a people ready to possess it.
And this applies to our lives today.
Sometimes we ask God:
“Why am I going through this?”
“Why this challenge?”
“Why this battle?”
But what if the battle you’re facing today—
Is training for something greater ahead?
What if your current struggle is building the strength you will need tomorrow?
Because God does not waste battles.
He uses them.
To prepare you.
To strengthen you.
To position you.
For what’s next.
Recognize current victories
God is already working in your life.
Learn from every battle
Each challenge carries a lesson.
Build your faith
Past victories strengthen future trust.
Stay prepared
Growth happens through experience.
Trust God’s process
He is shaping you for what’s coming next.
Today’s battle is not random.
It is preparation.
Lord, help me see purpose in every challenge I face.
Teach me to trust that You are preparing me for something greater.
Strengthen my faith through every victory and every struggle.
Guide me to walk in confidence knowing You are with me.
Amen.
Deuteronomy 3:3 (KJV)
“So the Lord our God delivered into our hands Og also…”
God gave Israel victory over powerful enemies, preparing them for future challenges in the Promised Land.
Challenges in life often serve as preparation for greater responsibilities.
Recognizing this helps us grow instead of becoming discouraged.
Lord, help me learn from every challenge.
Prepare me for the future You have planned.
Strengthen my faith and guide my steps.
Amen.

Darryl Yap’s recent post about Vice President Sara Duterte struck a chord online, amassing thousands of comments and shares. His words painted a portrait of resilience: “Nagtitiwala, tumulong, tinraydor, siniraan, patuloy na pinahihirapan.”
For her supporters, Sara Duterte is not just a political figure — she is a daughter honoring her father’s legacy, and a leader standing up for the country amidst criticism and betrayal.
The post frames her as a defender of the nation, ready to battle what Yap describes as the “pulang halimaw na umuuto ng rosas,” a direct jab at political rivals. This strong imagery highlights how polarized Philippine politics has become — where allegiances, narratives, and symbols are constantly weaponized.
But beyond the rhetoric lies the bigger question: Can Sara Duterte truly rise above political attacks and prove herself as a unifying leader, or will she remain trapped in the cycle of partisan battles?
As the political landscape heats up, one thing remains clear — Sara Duterte continues to be a central figure in shaping the nation’s political future.
💭 What’s your take? Is Sara Duterte the resilient leader her supporters believe her to be — or just another political personality caught in the storm?
