Stress Awareness Month: Talks That Help Teams Handle Stress Better

March 24, 20263 min read

Stress Is Everywhere. The Way We Handle It Doesn’t Have to Be.

April is Stress Awareness Month and if there’s one thing most teams don’t need reminding of, it’s that stress is real, constant, and often overwhelming.

Deadlines stack up. Notifications don’t stop. Work spills into evenings without warning. And somewhere in between, people are expected to stay focused, creative and “on.” The problem isn’t stress itself but how little space we create to actually deal with it. That’s exactly why these conversations matter.

We are spotlighting a series of talks for April that don’t just talk about stress; they unpack it, challenge it, and most importantly, help people handle it better in real life.

Let’s Be Honest About What Stress Looks Like Today

Stress today doesn’t always look dramatic. It’s quieter than that.

It shows up as mental fatigue by mid-afternoon. As a constant distraction. As feeling “switched on” all the time but never fully productive. It builds slowly, until it starts affecting how people think, work and interact.

That’s where sessions like Thriving Minds: Building Resilience and Mental Well-Being in Uncertain Times come in, helping people build the kind of resilience that actually holds up in fast-moving environments.

Or Finding Inner Peace in a Busy World, which cuts through the noise and focuses on something simple but powerful: how to create moments of calm, even on the busiest days.

And then there’s Balancing Screen Time and Mental Health, a topic that feels especially relevant when work and life both live on the same screen.

These aren’t abstract ideas. They’re real, everyday challenges and these talks meet people exactly where they are.

Practical, Not Theoretical

What makes these sessions different is that they don’t stay at the level of awareness. They move into action.

Emotional First Aid gives people ways to respond to stress in the moment, before it spirals. Stress Management: Finding Calm Amid Chaos focuses on staying steady when things feel anything but. And Mindfulness & Meditation for Workplace Wellbeing brings in techniques that are simple enough to actually stick.

For those looking at a more holistic reset, Mind, Body and Spirit connects the dots between physical health, mental clarity and emotional balance, because in reality, none of these exist in isolation.

These conversations are brought to life by a diverse group of experts, including Dan Nguyen, Delphine Supanya Berger, John Yu, Lin Tan, Daeun Kim, Laura Yates and Ariel Lee, each bringing their own perspective, experience and approach.

Why This Isn’t Just “Nice to Have”

When stress is ignored, it doesn’t disappear. It shows up in missed ideas, slower decisions, shorter patience and eventually, people leaving. But when organisations create space for these conversations, something shifts.

People feel more in control. Teams communicate better. Leaders show up differently. And over time, that builds stronger, more resilient workplaces.

That’s the real value of getting this right.

Stress Awareness Month is a reminder, but it’s also an opportunity to do something about it. Because the goal isn’t to eliminate stress. It’s to help people handle it better, together. And that’s exactly what these sessions are designed to do.

If you're ready to transform wellbeing into a strategic business advantage by enhancing retention, innovation, and performance, let's work together to develop a smarter, prevention-focused approach. Contact us at [email protected] and start redefining what workplace wellbeing can achieve.

SPEAKER/PANELISTS ENQUIRIES

What speaker topics do you accept?

All of our topics are connected with wellbeing in some way. They can range from physical, emotional, social, workplace, mental to financial wellbeing. You can be creative in how your topics fit under the wellbeing umbrella. We have image consultants, branding consultants, financial consultants and a range of facilitators of creative workshops. If you are unsure how your topics fit in, come talk to us. Additionally, how you design your session is up to you as long as it answers the brief. The IP remains yours.

How do I enrol as a speaker on your platform?

Contact us through the contact form on our contact page and we'll be in touch with you. We'll go over the topics you can do from our existing catalogue, including the languages you can deliver your topics in, and take the details we need to get you onboarded, including a brief profile and your profile picture. Once we've added you to the platform, you'll receive an email confirming your onboarding and the terms and conditions surrounding how you work under the 8 Mile brand.

Do I get paid for my speaking slots?

Yes, we do provide a stipend for you helping us to spread awareness on wellbeing. Doing talks for our vendors will also help you create awareness for your own business.

Is there a cost to being a panelist on your 8 Mile platform?

We levy a small annual administration fee for you to be listed on our platform to cover the time taken to set up your profile and liaise with the clients on your behalf.

What is the benefit of being on your platform?

You can look at the events we award to you as additional income you wouldn't have brought into your business otherwise, and that comes at zero marketing costs to you. We also find that popular speakers get requested over and over again, so that's a definite gain if you can wow with your delivery. We handle all the logistics for you and you just need to show up on the day.

Will I be able to charge the same amount I charge my direct customers?

We don't know what you charge your customers, but it is likely that you can charge more going direct. Going through us, we go through brokers, so to be transparent, there are markups at each stage there. The benefit is, the additional gigs we push your way require no marketing on your part, plus we also showcase our speakers on our social media channels, so we create awareness for you too, for free.

Can I promote my services and products at the end of my talks?

No, we do not allow this. We are engaged by the clients to provide educational experiences that bring value to their employees. This is not a space for you to promote or sell or make offers. You can introduce your company and leave attendees to connect with you if they choose.

Can I showcase the events I do through 8 Mile on my social media channels and elsewhere that's public?

Again, no you can't. Many of these events are internal for internal staff and we sign NDAs to protect employee privacy. You can ask the client directly if you can publicise and follow their clear directions if they allow. If they do allow, we request that you tag 8 Mile as the organiser in the post since the opportunity came from us. Always follow our terms and conditions, and ask if you have any doubts. Of course there are creative ways for you to communicate you did the events without revealing the customer or their staff. We also offer social media marketing support if you feel you need additional help with that.
