‘When I started my business, I was so excited about being my own boss, but I realised I needed help to get structure in place.’

Overthinking and anxiety were stopping me from achieving my goals and simply leading to me manifesting more negative things. This light bulb moment has been liberating and pivotal to my success.

I wasn’t short on dreams, In fact, I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve: a world free from abuse of animals and humans. I’ve seen too many instances of people staying in violent relationships for too long, because they don’t want to leave their pets – a source of unconditional love – behind. My goal was and is to provide pet-friendly accommodation for families fleeing domestic violence.

But so many things held me back. I was in the process of moving from employment to self-employment but struggling with making sales. I missed the company of colleagues, and, if I’m completely honest, I wasn’t sure who I was or what I wanted to do. It took time to figure that out.

I knew I still had a lot to learn. And I also had a more pressing issue to contend with: money.

One of my key problems was there wasn’t enough money coming in to cover the money going out. Debts were weighing me down and I was slipping into a scarcity mindset that was causing me panic attacks and anxiety. I was locked in a cycle of bringing money in, only to watch it all slip away again, and I didn’t know how to break out of it. I know that scaling my business was the way to go but had no idea how to make that happen!

The other problem I had was that I was surrounded by some of the wrong people. I stopped listening to my gut instinct and found myself in toxic relationships which made me ill. Thankfully, I saw an advert for the Blast programme run by Influential Minds, which talked of making £100,000. I was in! And this has proved to be one of the best business decisions I’ve made.

I started attending regular sessions with Influential Minds and that has been a turning point for me. I’ve learned so much about business and myself and that has increased my confidence. The first thing I learned was to take responsibility for my own success. It’s so simple yet such a powerful thing to learn.

I stopped allowing myself to procrastinate and be paralysed by the big tasks in front of me. Instead, I broke things down and focused on moving forward incrementally every day. I set goals, and working with Influential Minds gave me the accountability I needed to make sure I delivered. I created a routine for myself and above all, I applied it consistently.

A key learning point for me is that we are the total of the 5 people we spend time with. Through Influential Minds I was mixing with ambitious people who were achieving success. Not only did this rub off on me, it inspired me to get my finger out and to continuously do better! I love the business support network I have around me, made up of people who want me to succeed.

I was fortunate because Farah Hussain was an old friend of mine and she threw me two lifelines. Firstly, she taught me her networking ninja skills so that I learned how to network effectively and who to connect with. Secondly, she introduced me to Paula Wingate and Influential Minds and that’s when things really started to take off. Suddenly I was on my way to swimming around the deep end in style!

What I’ve learned from working with Influential Minds is immense and almost too much to quantify. I’ve learned to be really clear about what I want to achieve. I’ve put proper actions, plans and goals in place, and in the process, I earn more and work less. I’m more productive and consistent and I procrastinate less. My confidence has grown. I know my numbers and how to look after my cash flow, and I know how many customers I need to speak to daily to achieve my revenue targets. My mindset has changed completely.

The Results

I have a pricing structure in place for every level of business and I’ve increased my pricing by 200% resulting in me achieving 160% of my targets, And I know what I need to do to achieve £100k profit.

When I was first introduced to Influential Minds I thought that all I needed was guidance. And I got it in spades, but I got so much more too. Working with Paula and Farah you become part of a supportive family who have your back and want you to succeed. My business is flourishing, and I know I have the right team behind me, offering wisdom, knowledge and friendship. The value from that means everything to me.

The Results

I learned to track my numbers to ensure that I meet my targets. I had a target of £100k which I met, and now after 12 months with Influential Minds I have hit £200k. My monthly sales are up and I have some great connections. I’m looking at reducing my costs and outsourcing some tasks and have managed to reduce my hours to 30 per week.

It doesn’t mean I’m not busy – I have a large property portfolio and teach others how to build a successful property business. I’m also now involved with a homeless charity helping them to purchase property for their client group and I’m also continuing to raise awareness of the link between animal abuse and human abuse

I’m always looking for the next opportunity. But It’s not all about being driven though; I also celebrate my achievements – and those of everyone else in my business support network!
