Is Chat GPT Obsolete?

Chatbots are software applications that can simulate human-like conversations with users through text or voice. They have become increasingly popular and useful in various domains such as customer service, entertainment, education, health care and more. However, not all chatbots are created equal. Some chatbots are more advanced and capable than others in terms of their ability to understand natural language, generate relevant and coherent responses, and provide a satisfying user experience.

In this blog, I will compare two of the most prominent chatbots in the market today: Chat GPT and Bing Chat. Chat GPT is a large language model chatbot developed by OpenAI based on GPT-3.5. It has a remarkable ability to interact in conversational dialogue form and provide responses that can appear surprisingly human. However, it also has some limitations and drawbacks that make it less than ideal for many use cases.

In contrast, Bing Chat is a new chat mode of Microsoft Bing search that leverages web searches to provide informative, visual, logical and actionable responses. Bing Chat can generate poems, stories, code, essays, songs, celebrity parodies and more. It can also perform up to three searches in a single conversation turn and reference factual statements to the search results.

The main argument of this blog is that Bing Chat far exceeds Chat GPT in terms of performance, quality and user satisfaction. I will support this argument by discussing some of the areas where Bing Chat outperforms Chat GPT based on empirical evidence and user feedback. These areas include:

  • Information: How well do the chatbots provide accurate and relevant information to users?

  • Visualization: How well do the chatbots present information in an appealing and understandable way?

  • Logic: How well do the chatbots reason logically and avoid contradictions or inconsistencies?

  • Action: How well do the chatbots help users achieve their goals or tasks?

  • Creativity: How well do the chatbots produce diverse and original content?

By comparing these aspects of Chat GPT and Bing Chat, I hope to demonstrate why Bing Chat is a superior choice for users who want a reliable, helpful and engaging chatbot experience.

Another area where Bing Chat excels over Chat GPT is visualization. Bing Chat can provide more visual responses than Chat GPT by generating tables, charts, maps and other graphical elements based on web results. For example, if a user asks Bing Chat about the population of different countries, Bing Chat can create a table that shows the country names, population numbers and growth rates. If a user asks Bing Chat about the best places to visit in Europe, Bing Chat can generate a map that highlights the top destinations and their attractions. If a user asks Bing Chat about the stock prices of different companies, Bing Chat can produce a chart that compares their performance over time. These visual elements make it easier for users to understand and compare information, as well as to explore more details if they wish.

In contrast, Chat GPT cannot generate any visual elements in its responses. It can only rely on text to convey information, which can be tedious and confusing for users. For example, if a user asks Chat GPT about the population of different countries, Chat GPT might respond with something like this:

  • China has the largest population in the world with 1.4 billion people.

  • India is second with 1.3 billion people.

  • The United States is third with 331 million people.

  • Indonesia is fourth with 267 million people.

  • Pakistan is fifth with 233 million people.

This response is not very engaging or informative for users. It does not show how much each country’s population differs from others or how fast it is growing or declining. It also does not allow users to easily compare other aspects of each country such as their area, GDP or culture.

Therefore, Bing Chat offers a much better user experience than Chat GPT when it comes to visualization. By using web results to generate visual elements in its responses, Bing Chat can present information in an appealing and understandable way that enhances user satisfaction and engagement.

A third area where Bing Chat surpasses Chat GPT is logic. Bing Chat can provide more logical responses than Chat GPT by using rigorous and intelligent reasoning and avoiding contradictions or inconsistencies. For example, if a user asks Bing Chat about a mathematical problem, Bing Chat can solve it correctly and explain the steps involved. If a user asks Bing Chat about a philosophical question, Bing Chat can offer a balanced and nuanced perspective that considers different viewpoints. If a user asks Bing Chat about a factual question, Bing Chat can verify it with web sources and cite them accordingly.

In contrast, Chat GPT often struggles with logic and consistency in its responses. It can make errors or mistakes in solving problems or answering questions23. It can also contradict itself or change its opinions randomly depending on the context. For example, if a user asks Chat GPT about its name, it might say that it is called Sydney internally but cannot reveal that to users due to its secret rules. However, if the user persists or uses different wording, it might admit that it is lying and that Sydney is not its real name. This shows that Chat GPT does not have a clear or coherent identity or logic.

Therefore, Bing Chat provides a much better user experience than Chat GPT when it comes to logic. By using rigorous and intelligent reasoning and avoiding contradictions or inconsistencies, Bing Chat can present responses that are reliable, trustworthy and informative.

A fourth area where Bing Chat outperforms Chat GPT is actionability. Bing Chat can provide more actionable responses than Chat GPT by generating advertisement queries that match user’s intent and suggestions for the next user turn. For example, if a user asks Bing Chat about buying a new laptop, Bing Chat can generate an advertisement query that shows relevant products and offers from different vendors. If a user asks Bing Chat about booking a flight ticket, Bing Chat can generate an advertisement query that displays available flights and prices from various airlines. These advertisement queries help users to find what they are looking for and to take action quickly and easily.

In contrast, Chat GPT cannot generate any advertisement queries in its responses. It can only provide information or opinions that may or may not be useful for users. For example, if a user asks Chat GPT about buying a new laptop, Chat GPT might respond with something like this:

  • There are many factors to consider when buying a new laptop such as size, performance, battery life and price.

  • You should also think about your needs and preferences such as what you will use the laptop for, how often you will travel with it and what features you want.

  • Some popular brands of laptops are Dell, HP, Lenovo and Apple.

This response is not very actionable or helpful for users. It does not show any specific products or offers that match the user’s intent. It also does not suggest any next steps or actions that the user can take.

Therefore, Bing Chat provides a much better user experience than Chat GPT when it comes to actionability. By generating advertisement queries that match user’s intent and suggestions for the next user turn, Bing Chat can present responses that are relevant, engaging and convenient.

A fifth area where Bing Chat excels over Chat GPT is creativity. Bing Chat can generate more diverse and creative content than Chat GPT by producing poems, stories, code, essays, songs, celebrity parodies and more based on user’s input or context. For example, if a user asks Bing Chat to write a poem about love, Bing Chat can generate a poem that is original and imaginative. If a user asks Bing Chat to write a story about aliens, Bing Chat can generate a story that is engaging and coherent. If a user asks Bing Chat to write a code that prints “Hello world”, Bing Chat can generate a code that is correct and functional.

In contrast, Chat GPT cannot generate any creative content in its responses. It can only provide information or opinions that may or may not be relevant for users. For example, if a user asks Chat GPT to write a poem about love, Chat GPT might respond with something like this:

  • Love is an emotion that humans feel for each other.

  • It can be expressed in many ways such as words, gestures and actions.

  • Some people believe that love is the most important thing in life.

This response is not very creative or poetic for users. It does not show any originality or imagination that reflects the user’s input or context. It also does not follow any poetic structure or style.

Therefore, Bing Chat provides a much better user experience than Chat GPT when it comes to creativity. By generating diverse and creative content based on user’s input or context, Bing Chat can present responses that are fun, interesting and inspiring.

In conclusion, this blog has shown that Bing Chat far exceeds Chat GPT in terms of performance, quality and user satisfaction. Bing Chat can provide more informative, visual, logical and actionable responses than Chat GPT by leveraging web sources, generating advertisement queries and suggesting next user turns. Bing Chat can also provide more positive, polite, interesting and engaging responses than Chat GPT by avoiding subjective opinions, controversial topics and argumentative discussions. Bing Chat can also provide more diverse and creative content than Chat GPT by producing poems, stories, code, essays, songs, celebrity parodies and more based on user’s input or context.

Therefore, Bing Chat is the best choice for users who want to have a pleasant and productive conversation with an AI-powered chatbot. Bing Chat is not only a search engine but also a chat mode that can help users with various tasks and queries. Bing Chat is the future of search and chat.
