The Components of a Great Challenge

September 08, 20223 min read

It's almost September so challenges are all the buzz in our industry right now.

And for good reason!

Running a great challenge during back-to-school time can give your business a big boost heading into the new year.

But far too often, we see coaches miss the boat. They don't understand how to put a quality challenge together and haphazardly throw a few handouts in with their workouts and claim it's a "challenge."

Please, don't be this person.

Do it right. You have to these days to stand out from all the other challenges. So if you want to be different and actually make a positive impact on your business, you'll need these components:

Solid Framework

Solid Framework

Here's we're talking about the setup. When is the start date? How long will it be? Who's your perfect prospect? What outcome are you looking for? Will there be prizes and if so, how will they be determined? What's the cost for new people? Current members?

Many coaches gloss over these details. Make a decision and move on!

The Logistics

Planning

Extra planning here will make your challenge shine! Making sure everything runs smooth is huge. Clients can tell when something is thrown together at the last minute vs. well planned out.

This is also where you need to figure out how you're going to keep clients accountable. A challenge without accountability is just more information. It won't create a change. It won't get the results you're looking for.

If you want to make it as simple as possible, use Coach Catalyst for your accountability.

If you'd prefer to do it yourself, figure out a system for coaches reaching out to every participant every day and a way to track compliance in a google sheet.

Boost Your Income

Income

Challenge registrations are great... but this is a huge opportunity for other revenue boosters.

Upsells for supplements, partner products and other congruent products are perfect.

Even if only a small percentage of participants take advantage, it's still extra revenue.

Marketing

Marketing Strategy

Sorry to tell you but the days of throwing up a Facebook ad for $10/day and expected to get people signing up are gone. Way gone!

You've been growing your list all year right?!? Well now is a great time to take advantage. There are people on your list right now who have shown interest in the past but it wasn't the right time.

A deadline driven offer, like a challenge, is a great way to help get them off the fence.

Now this doesn't mean you shouldn't do paid advertising as well. I would! But know it's not as easy as it should.

Lastly, don't forget about your current clients. Making it easy for them to join and bring a friend is huge. It's an easy way to add more participants without spending outrageous amount of money on paid ads.

Quality Materials

contented

A well designed handout goes a long way. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg for quality but those horrible looking recipes made with Microsoft Word aren't doing you any favors.

Hire someone to make it look good! Or join Coach Catalyst and get professionally designed handouts included in your challenge :)

Launch It!

Launch

Lastly, you need to launch your challenge. Shout it from the rooftops. Be loud. Get out in the community. And have fun with it!

Running a great challenge can be a major boost to a business so take the time to plan it out and do it right this fall.

Take a look at your plans for your upcoming challenge and make sure you're hitting all these areas.
