Who Are We
The Richmond Sockeyes were established in 1971 and we’re now in our 52nd season. We play in the Pacific Junior Hockey League, with a total of 14 teams that span Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley.
Junior hockey is played by young men aged 16 to 20. The Sockeyes play at the Junior ‘A’ – Tier 2 level. However, we have had a few Sockeye stars go on to play in the National Hockey League.
The Sockeyes have won the provincial championship (the Cyclone Taylor Cup) six times. The last time was in 2018.

The Sockeyes are not part of the NHL. Sure, we’re not the Canucks.
However, we have had our star players go on to the NHL – and our rates are much more affordable than in Rogers Arena.
We’re proud of our Richmond roots. Part of our appeal is that we are the RICHMOND Sockeyes. We represent our community – just like your company.

team, as our scholarship program was established 23 years ago.
