What is it like to work with a coach?

On Monday I got up and asked myself: how could I help someone today? I opened my computer, opened my Facebook page and simply told my  story with my first coach in 2015. In fact, if you are reading me today, it is thanks to her.

I remember, I was in our caravan in Corsica in my bed in the morning and I scrolled on Facebook. It was the beginning of July, it was hot. I was quite unhappy at the time, because firstly, I felt guilty, because I thought I should be happy: I had my lover by my side, I was on holiday in Corsica, I had no money worries, my 4 children were fine, I was in superb physical health. And yet I was on sick leave. I could no longer return to my job, where I had experienced double harassment. Just thinking about it made me sick. In September I had to go back and I knew I wasn't ready. Spending another 15 years in this company was beyond my strength. What else could I do?

That's when I read this post from this coach, who helps people find their life mission and trains people to become life mission coaches. Boom, I thought, here's my new job! I called her that morning and she said: "Gudrun, it's possible, but first we have to see if it's your life mission to teach people to know their life mission". We set the coaching at the end of August: 5 days at her place in the south of Germany... 3500€! The first time I've ever hired a coach. I didn't tell anyone. I was ashamed to spend so much money just for myself. Until now I had to be sick or be "below everything" to seek help from a therapist, everything else, I found it was an unnecessary luxury.

Well, that was 5 years ago and the most transformative experience of my entire life. At the end of this coaching I had a vision, from which I developed my method, which I began to use first to heal myself, then to help others. Then I learned how to be an entrepreneur, I returned to my job 1 month after this coaching to leave it definitively 2 years later and launch myself at the age of 55.

Since then I have worked with multiple coaches individually or in groups. Business coaches and coaches for personal development. Why? Because I realized that we cannot see ourselves without a mirror. And we need someone to hold our hand so that we dare to take the next step towards the unknown.And then entering the world of a person who is "further" than us gives hope, it lightens the work, it makes you move forward faster, because you avoid detours. In the end, it's such a gift that I give myself.
