Reaching for the Stars Gala

Exploring New Frontiers for Jewish Education

May 17, 2026 | San Diego Air & Space Museum

San Diego Hebrew Day invites you to gather in one of San Diego’s most iconic spaces, the Air & Space Museum, for a night that celebrates vision, momentum, Jewish education, and what’s possible when we dare to think bigger.

This year’s Gala is more than a celebration. It marks a turning point. San Diego Hebrew Day is entering its next frontier; reimagining Jewish education for a rapidly changing world while remaining deeply rooted in Torah, Jewish values, and academic excellence.

This is an evening to honor the legacy that brought us here and launch the next chapter.

Featured Speaker
Shabbos Kestenbaum

A national advocate confronting antisemitism who took on Harvard.

Shabbos Kestenbaum emerged as a powerful young Jewish voice after challenging Harvard University over its failure to protect Jewish students. His actions brought national attention to the fight against campus antisemitism and the defense of religious freedom.

He has since addressed Congress, the Knesset, and the Republican National Convention, calling for accountability and moral clarity. His leadership continues to inspire Jewish students to stand proudly, confidently, and without fear.

Our Distinguished Honorees

Founding Families of San Diego Hebrew Day

Dimenstein

Handler

Steiman

For over six decades, the vision, generosity, and leadership of these remarkable families have played a defining role in shaping Hebrew Day’s growth, stability, and values. This honor recognizes not only their historical impact, but their lasting legacy across generations of students and the San Diego community at large.

Teaching Excellence Award

Rabbi Chaim Hollander

For nearly 50 years, Rabbi Hollander has done more than teach; he has shaped souls, built Jewish identity, and lit a love of Torah in the hearts of three generations of Hebrew Day students. During this time, he also served as a revered spiritual leader of Young Israel of San Diego for 21 years.
Rabbi Hollander has guided many of us through our questions, celebrated our growth, and stood as a steady source of wisdom and faith. For many of us, his voice, his stories, and his quiet encouragement are woven into who we are as Jews and human beings.

Our Goal: $500,000

Jewish education is more than philanthropy. It is our shared responsibility.

After all, without a next generation of Jewish leaders who will sustain, lead and support our community institutions in the years ahead?
