Metro Jiu-Jitsu head instructor Mohammad Abdrabboh has spent the last 30 years exploring his passion for martial arts. He is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Danny Alvarez.
As a teenager and then young adult, Mohammad struggled to rise above life’s challenges. Seeking a means to learn self-defense and find positive outlets for frustrations, Mohammad began his martial arts journey. He studied taekwondo, hapkido, akidoko, judo, kickboxing, boxing, eskrita stick fighting, and MMA fighting. Each type of martial arts offered Mohammad an outlet to channel his energy and fulfill his desire to excel.
As Mohammad began to successfully flourish in his professional career, marriage, and fatherhood to their 6 children, martial arts and daily exercise remained an integral part of his routine. Yet, the yearning to master one form of martial arts remained deeply rooted within him.
A friend introduced him to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2006 and the spark was lit. The passion and thrill for the sport have remained through all the years of practice and competitions. Jiu-Jitsu is the first art that pushed Mohammad’s level of physical exertion to the point of mentally consuming all his focus and energy. The stresses of work, family commitments, and to-do lists drift away during a Jiu-Jitsu session while he fights to stay on top.
The joy of his personal development in Jiu-Jitsu has reignited a dream to own a martial arts school and positively impact the lives of others. Combining his talent as a corporate trainer in human peak performance along with his experience in sports and athletic training, Mohammad has the tools to successfully lead others to be the best versions of themselves. He has traveled across the country and as far as the islands of Fiji studying human psychology and the psychology of success. Mohammad has a keen understanding that mastery is more than reaching the highest pinnacle within your sport. It’s about pushing yourself beyond your limits, turning negatives into positives, and digging deep inside yourself to find the strength to forge your own path. Metro Jiu-Jitsu is the tool Mohammad uses to support people in that vision for themselves.

David has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2009 and is a Black Belt under Danny Alvarez.
David specializes in teaching adolescents and young adults, having over 8 years of experience leading his local youth group. David spent most of his childhood overweight and insecure (weighing 220 lbs in the 7th grade); he was never very athletic and always felt like an outsider by those who were. David began to transform his life at the age of 17 by lifting weights and watching his diet; after 2 years, his workouts became stagnant, and he needed a change.
David looked into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a new workout with possibly some self-defense aspects, little did he realize it would alter the trajectory of his life. Jiu-Jitsu leveled the playing field between athletes and non-athletes; he quickly realized it was a “thinking man’s game” rather than a “meathead’s game.” It required the ability to understand physics and leverage in addition to being physically fit.
After beginning Jiu-Jitsu, David’s instructor, Danny, suggested he register for a local tournament. Against his will, David fought and lost, but it sparked his journey as a competitor. Since then, he has competed in over 20 tournaments, bringing home over 13 medals.
David is a devoted husband and father who believes strongly in building confidence in others through the art of Jiu-Jitsu.

I have been Coaching for 3 years, and trained at Metro for 4 and a half years. Coaching has been a great experience, seeing the growth and change that can happen in a short period of time. I started Coaching to help my own jiu jitsu game, and ended up becoming a head coach in the process.
Professor Mohammed got me into Jiu-Jitsu when I was 4 years old. Shortly after, I competed and fell in love with the sport. Growing up, sports have always been a big part of my life. I played a lot of different sports, but ultimately, I decided to stick with training and coaching Jiu-Jitsu.
I took time off to try to play collegiate-level soccer, but as I got closer, I realized I didn’t have as much passion for it as I did for Jiu-Jitsu. So when Metro opened up, I came back and started coaching and training again. Ever since then, I have trained and competed all over the country.
I love coaching because I have been a part of many sports programs, and I know how impactful a good coach is. I wanted to be able to be a positive role model for future generations.

I have spent the last 16 years of my life immersed in the world of training jiu-jitsu and the last 7 years coaching young athletes. My journey is not just a profession; it’s something I love to do.
Coaching for me has become something truly that is a part of me because I know that if I can help improve just one kid's life, I’m doing something good and positive with myself. I think about how my students are improving so often that sometimes it becomes all I think about.
Growing up, jiu-jitsu was something I always did, but as I got older, I started to understand the value of having positive role models. If it wasn’t for my dad, I would’ve quit jiu-jitsu long ago, but he always told me jiu-jitsu is something that I would be appreciative of later — and boy, was he right.
Jiu-jitsu has given me more opportunities than I ever thought possible. I have been able to do more and meet so many amazing people! My goal is to make those same opportunities possible for any kid who walks through those doors.
