Senior Developer / Architect (Player/Coach)
Take ownership of complex systems, lead technical direction, and design scalable platform components for our medication affordability ecosystem.
We're a small, sharp team moving quickly, experimenting boldly, and building infrastructure that solves a real, painful problem for millions of patients. This role blends hands-on engineering with architectural decision-making. You'll work across backend services (primarily in Go and Python), distributed systems, data layers, and occasionally contribute to front-end interfaces.
What You'll Own
Core Engineering Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core platform services using Go, Python, and modern web technologies
- Work with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis/Valkey, and messaging/queue systems to build scalable data workflows
- Own CI/CD pipelines, container builds (Docker/Podman), and environment automation
Technical Leadership
- Lead architectural decisions for major features, integrations, and system-level improvements
- Define engineering standards around code quality, testing, documentation, and operational excellence
- Review code and mentor other developers to help elevate team capability
- Collaborate with leadership on roadmaps, tech strategy, and prioritization
What We're Looking For
- 5-10+ years of professional software development experience with substantial ownership of production systems
- Expertise in Go and/or Python with a track record of writing clean, maintainable, scalable code
- Strong understanding of web architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Significant experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and at least one search/indexing system (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch)
- Deep experience with containers, CI/CD workflows, and operating services in cloud environments
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical architecture while contributing directly to implementation
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with performance engineering (query optimization, memory profiling, concurrency)
- Familiarity with DDD, event-driven architecture, CQRS, or hexagonal architecture
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi)
- Knowledge of observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
Why You'll Love Working Here
- High autonomy and influence over technical direction and system design
- A collaborative, small-team culture that values clarity, craftsmanship, and creativity
- Opportunities to lead, mentor, and shape the next evolution of our platform
- Direct impact on medication affordability for millions of patients
- Competitive compensation, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance
