We are often asked about options available for severe climate conditions, particularly cold weather in places like Idaho, Montana, and Northern Nevada, individuals can experience temperatures to - 20* degrees Fahrenheit in the winter.

Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with a manufacturer to create an Extreme Weather Package, including increased insulation, extra snow load, and cove radiant heating. We believe it is better than any other park model tiny home in the industry.

Increased Insulation

Insulation values, or R-value, measure a material's resistance to heat flow; a higher R-value indicates better insulating effectiveness. Our standard insulation method is open-foam spray insulation with an R-14 in the walls and an R-21 in the floor/ceiling.

Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with manufacturers to increase the R-values up to R-21 in the walls and R-30 in the floor and ceiling by using closed-foam spray insulation. This will meet the insulation requirement in almost any zoning regulation in the country.

Extra Snow Load

Snow load is the downward force on a structure's roof from accumulated snow and ice, crucial for structural design to ensure safety. Our tiny homes standard snow load is 40 psf. This works for many areas of the country, however some areas get a lot of snow and the weight can cause problems for roofs.

Snake River Tiny Homes has worked with manufacturers to increase the snow load to 150 psf. That will meet the snow load requirement in almost any zoning regulation in the country.

Cove Radiant Heating

Each park model tiny home has an 18k BTU dual head mini split system that, according to the manufacturer, will work down to -18* Fahrenheit. This unit is superior to most tiny homes. Additionally, since nobody likes to be cold, we also offer a cove radiant system in addition to the standard mini split.

Infrared cove radiant heaters emit radiant energy that warms people and objects in a room directly, much like the sun does. By heating your spaces with radiant energy, you will feel warmer at a lower temperature because energy is not being wasted on heating the air around you.
