The Spiritual Side of Sales

Today, I am going to talk to you about the spiritual side of sales. Yep, you heard me correctly, the spiritual side of sales because so frequently we have this preconceived notion around sales, "It is icky," "It is gross," "I do not want to do it," "It makes me feel salesy" and you have heard me tell you before that salesy is a mindset. It is what we have believed based on the stories we have told ourselves, the experiences we possibly have had, or the way we feel about asking for what we want. And today, I wanted to share with you a couple of things that might make you change your mind around sales.

First, scripture says, "He that withholds the corn, the people shall curse him, but the blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it," Proverbs 11:26. There are other verses that talk about the woman of great wisdom in Proverbs 31. It talks about her creating clothing and then selling it in the market place, we can go on and on and on. The one thing I really want you to hear is if you look at scripture, it really talks about how we are supposed to compel men to come into the kingdom and that does not mean going and asking him nicely. It, also, doesn’t mean go and hope that they might say yes. It means we have to persuade. Obviously, God is talking about Kingdom issues in that particular scripture but it is still telling us that it is expected of us to do things in the marketplace for the benefit of our families. For myself, I believe that business is a gateway to supplying income for the kingdom as well. I firmly believe that we have an obligation to provide for people who are in need with the solution that we have to offer. If we know we can help them, why would we not help?

The other side of the spiritual part of sales is the Bible talks about how important it is for us to know that we are more than conquerors, that we already have victory and that God has made us the head and not the tail. Our mindset stops us from being able to confidently present our products and services to the community, to the marketplace, and to the world. So if we can believe what God says about us instead of what we think about ourselves and in some cases those thoughts directly conflict with what God says about us, it will cause us to be so much more successful.

If we would believe that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God says, from our mother's womb, he called us, he anointed us, he made us a prophet to the nations. If we would really believe that, guess what, we would open up our mouths and we would make the offer that is necessary in order to help heal the person's life, their pocketbook, their business, their body. Whatever is that we provide we would be less hesitant because we realize it is not about us, it really is about them. And for those of us who are believers, it is about progressing the Kingdom of God.

So this is a different kind of blog. It is who I am if you have been around me for any length of time, I am who I am, unapologetically. I think it is time for us to get out of our own way and believe that God has already given us everything that we need to prosper, to succeed, and to serve. So go out and bless somebody. Stop believing a lie. You are more than enough, you are already a conqueror, you are already victorious. Do not let anybody including yourself make you believe, otherwise!
