Introduction:
Juneteenth, a day of immense historical significance, is a time for commemorating freedom, community, and unity. In the spirit of celebrating this occasion, the MLK Jr. All Children's Choir recently had the privilege of performing at the Annual Juneteenth Event hosted by the TMT Youth Community Foundation and Muna on Main Street. The morning began with the choir gracing the stage, filling the air with soul-stirring gospel melodies. This event, held every third week in June, serves a noble cause — raising funds to support youth initiatives and recognizing the pivotal role of fathers in rebuilding families and communities.

It marks the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, more than two years after it was signed. This historic day represents not just the end of slavery but the beginning of a new era of freedom, resilience, and hope for Black communities across the nation.

It aims to raise funds for the TMT Youth Community Foundation, which plays a vital role in supporting initiatives such as a high school robotics competition team and providing opportunities for mass communications students attending Shaw University.
