About US
The MLK All Children's Choir is a remarkable musical ensemble that embodies the spirit and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Comprised of talented young singers from diverse backgrounds, this choir aims to promote unity, social justice, and equality through the power of music.
Named after the iconic civil rights leader, the MLK All Children's Choir aspires to carry forward Dr. King's vision of a harmonious society where individuals are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. As a part of the DreamKeepers Campaign organized by Coretta Scoot King, Bruce Lightner helped to organize the choir and several other activities and landmarks to honor Dr. King. The choir consists of children of various ages, representing different ethnicities, religions, and cultural backgrounds, fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and inclusion.
Under the guidance of skilled choral directors and music educators, the MLK All Children's Choir nurtures the musical talents of its members and provides them with a platform to express themselves through song. The repertoire of the choir includes a diverse range of music, encompassing gospel, spirituals, hymns, folk songs, and contemporary compositions that convey messages of hope, unity, and social change.
Beyond their exceptional musical abilities, the members of the MLK All Children's Choir also undergo training in leadership, empathy, and community engagement. They participate in various performances, both locally and nationally, using their voices to inspire audiences and advocate for justice and equality. The choir often collaborates with other musical ensembles, orchestras, and performers to create powerful and moving concerts that amplify the ideals of Dr. King.
The MLK All Children's Choir serves as a symbol of hope and inspiration for young people, demonstrating that they have the power to effect positive change in their communities and beyond. Through their dedication, passion, and commitment to Dr. King's vision, these young voices become a catalyst for social transformation, reminding us all of the importance of unity, understanding, and the pursuit of justice.
