ERIN GOODMAN, LCSW

TBRI Practitioner & Executive Director

Erin Goodman is the Executive Director and a child and family therapist at The Papillion Center, Paducah, along with her certified therapy dog, Honey. Erin specializes in play therapy and sand tray therapy, and she is a certified Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner. She represents The Papillion Center as the Kentucky affiliate with FASD United. She graduated from Lone Oak High School and holds an Associates of Arts degree from Paducah Community College, a Bachelors of Social Work degree with Youth and Nonprofit Administration from Murray State University, and a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Campbellsville University. Erin and her husband, Jeremy, live in Lone Oak with their children, Abby, Sam, Lincoln, and Piper, and they are members of Heartland Church, where she loves teaching preschool music. Erin also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping at yard sales, and playing with her potbelly pigs, Stacia and Eugene.

ERIN COALE, RN, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Erin is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with experience treating the full spectrum of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Erin has worked in a variety of psychiatric mental health settings, including substance treatment facilities, intensive outpatient programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient private practice. Erin graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History & Ancient Civilizations from Rhodes College, an Associate Degree in Nursing from West Kentucky Community & Technical College, and a Master of Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University with a specialty focus in psychiatry and mental health. She is nationally board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Erin and her two children, Paul Martin and Jack live with their two dogs, Snickers and Zeus, in Paducah, KY. Erin enjoys traveling, yoga, reading, and spending time at Kentucky Lake with her family and friends.

MEGAN BOHANNON, M.S. CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Megan is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist who received her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Communication Disorders and Speech-Language Pathology from Murray State University. Megan has ten years experience, having practiced in the public schools setting for six years and pediatric outpatient setting for four years. She has experience treating children, ages one to 18 years, presenting with articulation and phonological disorders; receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language impairments; childhood apraxia of speech; delays in executive functioning; nonverbal and minimally verbal communication; and dysfluency. Megan recently returned to the Paducah area with her husband. Megan enjoys hiking, reading, and thrift shopping. She is thrilled to join the Papillion Center and once again be serving in her hometown community.

HONEY

Canine Assistant

Honey is a CKC registered F1 Goldendoodle and a licensed therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. She received her Canine Good Citizen award through River Retriever Kennels in 2020 and works in session alongside Erin to bring the peace, calm, and steadiness of a furry friend to clients of all ages.

CHRIS TROUTT, LMFT

CEO & Therapist

Chris co-founded the Papillion Center in 2010. She and her husband, Burt, are parents to twelve children and have twenty-five grandchildren. Chris is a biological mother, an adoptive mother, a stepmother, and a foster mother. She brings both education and personal perspective into the therapy session. Chris has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner through the Texas Christian University Institute of Child Development and is trained in TF-CBT. She specializes in Trauma, Attachment Disorders and Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol and Drugs. Chris is licensed in Tennessee, Illinois and Kentucky. In addition to her role as therapist, Chris serves as the Papillion Center’s CEO. Chris offers our Paducah clients the opportunity for Telehealth services through The Papillion Center.

HEATHER MEEKS, BSW

Financial Specialist

Heather Meeks graduated from Marshall County High School and continued her education at Murray State University with a bachelors degree in social work. She has been working at the Papillion Center for six months now! She has been happily married to her husband for twenty-five years and has four children: Kylee, Devon, Drake, and Kaomi. She lives in Grand Rivers where she attends church at Calvary Baptist. Heather enjoys spending time at church, being with her family, and watching soccer and basketball!

DAWN GARNER

Office Manager

Dawn is originally from Austin, Texas and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX, with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Psychology and English. Then she completed graduate work at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, with a Master of Christian Education - Early Childhood degree. Her first career was as a Children’s Ministry Director for three large Baptist churches in Texas, Florida, and North Carolina before deciding to stay home with her young children. When the kids were older, Dawn returned to work as a middle and high school English teacher and as a Children’s Ministry bible study curriculum writer for Lifeway Christian Resources, and now after several years of teaching, she joins the Papillion Center staff. In 2018, Dawn and her family relocated to West Kentucky. She is married to Hank, and they have three children: Ashlyn, Ainsley, and Trey. The Garners are members of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

SHANNA CROCKET

TBRI- Parent Coach

Shanna earned a degree from Murray State University in Therapeutic Recreation and Special Education with an emphasis in severe behavior disorders. As an mother of four kids with varied histories, she understands the benefits and blessings of early intervention and wants to help parents and the community feel the impact that TBRI has had in her family! She says, “We can make a huge difference in the lives of these children and break chains just by educating ourselves.” Shanna loves planning events for her family and friends, singing, and traveling, and she is best known for her laugh! Shanna will be walking clients through the Behavior Dysregulation Program, an organized 12 week course for caregivers designed to teach TBRI and transform families.

Therapist

Emma graduated from Ballard Memorial High School. She has a West Kentucky Community and Technical College Associates degree in Arts and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville. She is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Emma’s ultimate goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been a graduate intern at the Papillion Center since August of 2023. Emma is a member of Oscar Baptist Church and enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

MCKENZIE

Therapist

McKenzie is a Paducah native that moved back to the area earlier this year. She is a Livingston Central High School graduate, holds  a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University, and a Master of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. McKenzie is SYMBIS certified and currently in the process of obtaining her LPCA to allow her to practice counseling in the state of Kentucky. McKenzie has experience working with children and families within wraparound services as well as school-based mental health services. McKenzie is married to Ross, the Associate Pastor at 12 Oaks Baptist Church. Together they have one daughter and another new baby on the way. McKenzie enjoys playing with her two dogs, helping her husband take care of the farm animals, running, and anything related to Disney. She is excited to join the Papillion Center and begin partnering with clients of all ages on their therapeutic journey. 

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide quality services and therapies that will enhance the lives of clients who seek our assistance. We specialize in those affected by trauma, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), and attachment issues by addressing each of the areas of need: social skills, emotional intervention, therapeutic parenting skills, and nutritional and neurochemistry impact.

WHO WE ARE

The Papillion Center is a faith-based, nonprofit counseling and therapy center, specializing in wraparound service provision for kids and families. We operate on a community-funded sliding fee scale so everyone can afford services.

Counseling

We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and group therapy for a wide range of needs.

Behavioral Management

Emotional dysregulation may cause angry outbursts, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and other self-damaging behaviors. We work with you to develop skills and strategies for these feelings.

Speech-Language Pathology

Our speech language pathologist can help prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.

Psychiatry

We have an on-site psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner that provides clients with prescription medication management.

Our therapeutic lens is comprehensively rooted in Trust Based Relational Intervention (Purvis & Cross).

What is FASD

FASD is caused by a child prenatally exposed to alcohol or drugs. It stands for Alcohol Syndrome Disorder. This can interfere with the baby’s brain development and physiological functions. NIH research indicates 1 in 20 elementary age students are affected prenatally by alcohol.

What is TBRI

TBRI®  stands for Trust Based Relational Intervention. TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

We operate on a sliding fee scale based on income instead of accepting insurance

Do I have to be a Christian?

No, you do not have to be a Christian to come to the Papillion Center. We are a faith-based organization that is based on who we are, not on who we expect our clients to be.

What ages do we see?

We see kids, adolescents, teenagers, college age, and parents. Our therapists see clients across all lifespans.
