“Getting To Know God ~ Through The Difficult, Mundane And Boring…”

8 Reasons

“Even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness,

fear will never conquer me,

for you already have,

Your authority is my strength and my peace.

The comfort of your love takes away my fear.

I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.

You become my delicious feast…”

Psalm 23:4-5 (TPT)

John Bunyan had a family and was serving God as a pastor.  Because his beliefs and teachings went against the powers of the corrupt church at that time he was taken from his family into a harsh incarceration.  Out of that came the book “Pilgrim’s Progress.”

It was in this experience, he said that he learned to “live upon God who is invisible.

God has put me in a place where I can no longer live on my work.  I can no longer live on my family… on my friends…on my pleasures… or,on my ministry.  I have to live on God, who is invisible.

The depth of our relationship with (and knowledge of) God deepens as we walk in His companionship and leadership, as we face difficulties, our mundane and boring tasks in the activities of each day.

We shouldn’t be surprised…  Over the years, we know that God often used the difficult, mundane and boring to teach His “children” the elementary lessons of humbly walking and trusting in His Guidance to enable and prepare them for His future blessings.

  • The call of Abraham was filled with alluring promise ~ then God led him out of the comforts oh his homeland to the difficulties and hardships in the unknown…

  • Young Joseph’s prophetic God given dreams of royal dominance were intriguing (Genesis 37:5-10) ~ but he was enslaved and imprisoned for years before he came to the palace.

  • Moses was cloistered in the isolation and challenges of mundane desert living for a third of his life before He led the people out of Egypt.

  • God allowed David to live as a wanted fugitive in the mountains, running in and out of caves from Saul, before he was recognized as king.

  • In the New Testament, God set aside Paul for three years in Arabia after his conversion, before he became a missionary.

Let’s resolve today to humbly walking with God, Getting To Know Him ~ even if we’re led into “The Difficult, Mundane And Boring…”

“The comfort of your love takes away my fear.  I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.  You become my delicious feast…” - Psalm 23:5 (TPT)
