I launched my first company in 1993 after working for someone who capped my worth at $35,000. I used that experience as fuel and grew Information Experts to $14 million in revenue before transitioning the company to the leadership team I put in place so I could launch my next company.
Under my leadership, Information Experts won more than 80 awards, was named to the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Companies three years in a row, and received the 2010 SmartCEO GovStar Industry Star Award.
I am immensely proud of what I built. We were national trailblazers, creating a culture of responsible flexibility that supported work life balance, telecommuting, and the belief that we work to live rather than live to work.
In 2012, I launched Successful Culture, a leadership consulting organization that helped CEOs master the three most critical aspects of business growth. These included leadership development, strategy formulation and execution, and corporate culture creation and improvement.
I also developed a global C level coaching and consulting practice, grounded in my own experience building a multimillion dollar consulting firm and in my ability to deeply connect with leaders. My work supported leaders in moving beyond the barriers that limited both personal and organizational growth.
Also in 2012, I joined Washington Business Report on ABC as the region’s Small Business expert, alongside anchor Rebecca Cooper.
In my weekly segment, I addressed the challenges of small business growth and invited leaders to join me to share their real world experiences and insights.
In 2015, I joined Inc. Magazine as a Leadership and Culture Columnist.
Through my column, I provided leaders with actionable strategies to cultivate leadership skills, bring out the best in their people, build effective and productive environments, and guide organizations toward greater levels of profitability.
In 2016, the Women Presidents Organization asked me to assume the role of Regional Chair for the Northern Virginia region.
I was trained in the peer to peer facilitation model and had the privilege of facilitating monthly meetings for women business owners with revenues ranging from $1 million to $50 million. It was an honor to create and maintain a safe and confidential environment where members could grow into their highest personal and professional potential.
In 2017, I aligned Successful Culture with PeopleTactics to launch Successful Culture International, a global corporate culture consultancy supporting organizations undergoing significant transformation.
SCI developed a global reputation as a leader in corporate culture and leadership development and education. Using our proprietary Culture Development Lifecycle, we helped organizations assess, strengthen, and transform cultures where employees feel safe, heard, seen, and empowered.
Also in 2017, I co founded Women’s CEO Roundtable, a professionally facilitated year long program for women business owners committed to scaling beyond $1 million in revenue.
Alongside a comprehensive business building curriculum, we facilitated confidential peer groups that became a lifeline for many members seeking connection, guidance, and support from seasoned entrepreneurs.
In 2020, I entered into a strategic partnership with Lodestone Global, one of the leading global board building organizations.
Within Lodestone, I found a home for my SCALE Model, advisory board consulting work, and access to an unparalleled network of highly vetted board members. The integration of these resources created a board building powerhouse that stands apart in the market.
In July 2022, SOAR Community Network acquired Successful Culture International.
This integration brought together two organizations aligned in purpose, values, and culture, united by a shared commitment to raising the consciousness of leaders and organizations so employees feel seen, heard, supported, and emotionally safe. SCI’s work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with the SCALE Academy, aligned seamlessly with SOAR’s comprehensive solutions.
I joined the SOAR leadership team as Vice President of Strategy to help define the organization’s global growth path and expand corporate culture solutions across sectors.
In August 2022, I launched Marissa International to create a single home for a comprehensive suite of personal and professional transformation services.
Through the integration of my communication gifts, more than 30 years of entrepreneurial and leadership experience, and the wisdom I have cultivated along the way, I committed to fulfilling my Lifetime Legacy Mission.

In 2023, I co founded i5 Conscious Leadership with my long time friend Melissa Scott.
