3 Simple Ways To Apply What You Teach

Have you found yourself in a room where there's one person, maybe one or two who have an answer for pretty much everything?

We're finding ourselves in meeting after meeting after meeting and networking group after networking group? And if you're okay being online - like most of us are having to be right now - then I want you to maximize your time.

Do You Know That Person?

Have you found yourself in a room where there's one person, maybe one or two who have an answer for pretty much everything? When someone says they're struggling with something that person's going, "Let me help. I have the answer. I know exactly what you need. Have you tried this and have you tried that? Or maybe you're not doing this right. You're not doing that right."

And when you are sitting there listening, you're finding yourself thinking, "Wow, that person has a lot to say."

But when you look at their business, they don't seem to be applying any of those principles to their own life or to their own business.

Has that person ever been you? Have you been that person who has great answers and great insight and lots of wisdom for everyone as it pertains to their particular business issues or their particular relationship problems? But when you assess your own life, it’s "What the heck is going on? I feel like I don't know what I'm doing or I'm not seeing the results."

It's often easier for us to feed than to eat.

I have a very dear friend who believes that when people say “knowledge is power”, they really should be saying, "The APPLICATION of knowledge is power."

In 1 Corinthians 9:26-27. It says, "I don't know about you, but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me. I'm staying alert and in top condition. I'm not going to get caught napping telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself."

Now that's The Message version, which means it's a little more laid back, a little more regular and modern language version of the scripture. It’s talking about someone who's preaching the gospel to everyone else, and then they get left behind because they're not applying it.

I want you to consider it even in your life and your business, beyond just the scriptural part of it, which of course is very important, but think about it for your business.

How often are you finding yourself sharing a lot of this great information to your clients, prospects, and audience, but then coming back to your own drawing board and not really applying that information?

We often are really great teachers - but not great learners, not great appliers.

I'm telling you because I have experienced it before. I get great ideas for people. Matter of fact, when I'm talking to someone, I believe I have a gift to literally see solutions in my head for them. Then sometimes God has to come back to me and say, "What about you? What are you applying? What are you doing for your own business, for your own life?"

And so, I’m issuing a challenge to all of us. I'm including myself in it too!

1-Be willing to examine your own life and your own business.

2-What knowledge are you giving to your people?

3-Determine what you are missing and what gaps you have from what you are teaching.

Every week with our clients, we have an implementation boot camp. We hold each other accountable every single week to get these done. Whether it’s sales calls, marketing, or something else. We make sure you are crossing those things off your list.

It does not serve us well to tell everybody else what they should be doing, but when they look at our business, we're not showing the fruit of what we have been teaching.

It's easy to teach, sometimes it's hard to live, but we are going to step up and we're going to do what we've been telling others to do. We're going to be the#FirstExample. Commit to no longer teaching what you refuse to live.

If you are interested in implementation week, let me know! Drop me a line, shoot me a message and I'll be happy to share with you.
