The Balansit is used to assist in prolonged sitting, to assist in bio mechanical and ergonomic positioning of the body. The Balansit is designed to be unstable, this is the defining principle that activates the stabilisation of your core muscles. A degree of balance is required to gain benefit from using your Balansit. We recommend starting with 5 minutes at a time, you can build up to longer periods of sitting as your endurance improves. We recommend building up to using the Balansit for a maximum of 30MINUTES at a time. Incorrect use may result in injury. The Balansit is best used on a flat, hard surfaced chair. It can be used on a chair with an incline or cushioning but this will not result in optimum function of the Balansit. The Balansit can also be used to sit on the floor in a cross legged, squat, or other comfortable position. Due to its unstable design, standing on your Balansit is not recommended. It is important that your Balansit is positioned correctly and that your sitting bones are positioned evenly on top of the thin raised curve, with a slight decline in your legs. If necessary the legs can be raised by putting something under your feet to achieve the correct leg position. Stabilise the Balansit with your hands as you sit down to position it correctly and to make sure you don’t slip off the Balansit. Make sure both feet are firmly and evenly placed on the floor in front of the chair before you sit down. Any pain or discomfort could mean that you may be positioned either too far forward or too far back on the Balansit. Or your Balansit could be the wrong size for you. It is normal for your body to move slightly as it finds balance. Your balance will improve rapidly as your deep core muscles innately activate to stabilise you. Use your hands on astable surface to keep you balanced in these initial stages. Immediately stop using the Balansit if you experience any pain.
