Expanding Care System Network for Women in Bogotá

Expanding Care System Network for Women in Bogotá

In response to the increasing burden of caregiving tasks on women in Bogotá due to the pandemic, the Bogotá Office of Women’s Affairs embarked on a transformative project. This initiative aimed to expand the Care System network, providing female caregivers with accessible services within a 15-minute walk from each facility.

The primary objectives centered around enhancing well-being, gender equality, and economic autonomy while addressing the challenges faced by women in difficult living situations.

Project Outcomes:

The project provided crucial insights into optimizing the Care System network expansion.

Identified areas of high demand and aligned them with available social services within a 15-minute walk

Approach and Methodology

The project's methodology followed five key steps to determine the optimal expansion of the Care System network:

• Demographic Correlation and Utilization: Analyzed the correlation of surrounding demographics with current careblock utilization.

• Predictive Modeling: Developed a multi-linear regression equation to predict potential utilization in different areas based on key variables.

• Essential Service Evaluation: Evaluated the availability of essential services in various regions to identify potential locations for expansion.

• Service Clustering: Created service clusters in areas projected to have the highest benefit, considering proximity and convenience.

• Accessibility Assessment: Tested and ensured that all clusters were within a 15-minute walking distance, making services easily accessible.

Deliverables and Recommendations

The project yielded a set of deliverables aimed at aiding the Bogotá Office of Women’s Affairs in making informed decisions:

• Predictive Model: Developed a multi-linear regression equation predicting per capita utilization based on relevant demographic factors.

• Proximity Map: Created a static map outlining available services, service clusters, and their proximity to each other.

• Decision-Making Dashboard: Designed an interactive dashboard integrating all project data for future planning and strategy.

• Technical Report and Repository: Compiled a technical report and repository containing code explanations for transparency and continuity.
