Beginning his journey in 1987 at Mount Vernon Realty, he initially worked at their Cape St Claire Office before moving to their Laurel Office, and eventually transitioning to RE/MAX Suburban in Greenbelt, MD. Steve's initial foray into real estate sales saw him involved in various projects, including property renovations and modular home construction, demonstrating his versatility and innovative approach to real estate.
His career took a significant turn in 1992 when he was introduced to real estate appraisal by a colleague. Under the mentorship of this colleague, Steve honed his appraisal skills and grew his business from handling 150 to 500 monthly appraisals, eventually leading a team of 16 appraisers. His vast experience includes having appraised or reviewed over 75,000 properties in Maryland, and he holds the prestigious 1004 - FHA Approval for the HUD Panel, highlighting his expertise and credibility in the field.
Steve's contributions to the real estate sector have been recognized at the state level, leading to his appointment to the Maryland Appraisal and Home Inspection by Governors Bob Ehrlich and Martin O'Malley. Beyond appraisals, Steve has shown an entrepreneurial spirit, engaging in wholesale, flipping, and new home construction, as well as managing Section 8 rentals and short-term vacation properties.
In 1994, Steve officially established his appraisal business, marking a significant milestone in his career. Prior to this, he had a successful stint as a Realtor with RE/MAX Suburban from 1990 to 1994. His broad expertise and exemplary leadership led him to the role of Executive Director of Hogan's Office of Community Initiatives in January 2015, a position he held with distinction until January 2023.
Steve resides in Edgewater, MD, with a second residence in Ocean City, MD, reflecting his deep connection to the Maryland area. His career is characterized by unwavering dedication, integrity, and a profound understanding of the real estate industry.
