FAQ

What is Hypnosis?

Contrary to what is commonly believed by many, hypnosis is NOT a “sleep” state even though a person in hypnosis may appear to be sleeping. Moreover, because it is actually a natural state of mind, hypnotic suggestion is induced normally in everyday living much more often than artificially. Every time we become engrossed in a novel or a motion picture, we are in a natural hypnotic trance.

Does a hypnotized person give up control?

Do we give up control of our minds during a movie? When is the last time you got so involved during a movie or TV show that you actually felt emotion? You were literally in a hypnotic trance, although you still have the power to emerge from that state if desired. Because your mind may be guided by a movie, TV show, self-hypnosis tape, or Hypnotherapist, YOU still have the power to resist. Even though there are some people who seem to at least partially give up control of their minds, that is because of misunderstanding who has the power. “ALL HYPNOSIS IS SELF-HYPNOSIS.”

How may I learn self-hypnosis?

The best way to learn self-hypnosis is by asking a qualified Hypnotherapist to teach you, and to give you post-hypnotic suggestions to reinforce what you learn. Most importantly, self-hypnosis is a common homework assignment with most hypnotherapy sessions.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

Hypnosis in and of itself is not dangerous. Moreover, if it were detrimental, we would all be in jeopardy every time we became engrossed in a captivating book, thrilling movie, or engaging TV show. Remember, hypnosis is a natural state we enter into numerous times each day. The only difference with visiting a hypnotherapist is that you are allowing yourself to go into an altered state of awareness on purpose and with a purpose.
