Origins Incubator exists because the healthcare system was not designed for doctors who want to practice on their own terms. We built the program we wish we had — real business training, built by clinicians, for clinicians.

How Origins Incubator Came to Be
The journey of Linda Matteoli, DO — and why this program exists.
2014 — The Spark
A Doctor Out of Alignment
Linda Matteoli, DO, was a licensed family physician working in a traditional outpatient practice. With a background in nutrition, she frequently felt that if she could just spend more time with patients, she could make a real difference. But the system didn't allow for it — 15-minute visits, insurance-driven care, and no room for the deeper work she knew her patients needed.
As you may already be experiencing or know — when you are out of alignment with yourself and your daily work, you start to feel sick yourself. Linda sought care with a naturopathic physician, did advanced testing in gut and adrenal health, and with time, started to feel like herself again. She wanted her patients to experience the same thing.
So she set out to create a practice she would want to be a part of. That was the start of Origins Functional Medicine.
2014 - 2017 The Build
Building a Practice on an Island
Building that practice was difficult. Linda felt as if she was on an island most of the time. But after many years and many hardships, she found a model that not only worked — it thrived. Fifteen patient contact hours per week. Three clinic days. One admin day. One free day. Working only school hours. And replacing her physician income.
She felt like she was really making a difference — working in a practice that was an extension of who she was, how she approached patient care, and one she looked forward to walking into every day. Settling for the nervous system.
2017 Functional Lawyer
Solving the Legal Problem
While Linda was building Origins, her husband Scott Rattigan, JD — a corporate litigator — saw the struggle firsthand. The tens of thousands of dollars they spent on healthcare attorneys who didn't understand the ins and outs of integrative care. The conversations with Linda's friends and colleagues who all shared the same frustration.
There was a massive need for legal education that was reasonably priced, collaborative, and law firm quality — so clinicians could get launched safely. So they launched Functional Lawyer in 2017.
2019 - 2020 The Mentorship Begins
From Weekend Intensives to an Online Program
In 2019, Scott's legal clients started asking him how Linda set up her practice — they knew she was working school hours, had replaced her income, and was genuinely thriving. Scott had the idea: start mentoring other clinicians in their model.
Physicians began flying to their practice in Orlando — three clinicians per weekend, a three-day intensive, quarterly. It worked, but it was a firehose of information in three days, and Linda was still seeing a full patient load.
Then COVID hit with the next group set to arrive in 30 days. They put the entire course online in 2020 — and Origins Incubator was born.
2022 The Full Ecosystem
Adding Legal, Clinical and Financial Support
By 2022, Linda realized clinicians needed more than just practice creation — they needed legal, financial, and clinical support working together. This was when they brought on Functional Lawyer in its entirety, as well as Cheryl Burdette, ND — one of the most respected clinical educators in integrative medicine — to build out a comprehensive clinical curriculum with live case study review and 35 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits.
2025 The Operations Breakthrough
Solving the 30% Capacity Problem
Another iteration. Clients were having trouble scaling past about 30% capacity — and the primary reason was that they didn't have the tech stack to support their practice. They needed pipelines, automations, workflows, operations, and systems. They needed accurate data tracking — both marketing and financial.
This was when they brought on Erin McKenney, JD — a systems and operations expert — to build out the operations arm of Origins. Origins OS was born: a complete practice operating system so clients could have solid operations, systems, and financial clarity from day one.
2026 The Full Vision
The Most Comprehensive Mentorship for Phsyicians
Now, in 2026, Origins Incubator has evolved yet again — offering white-glove build-outs, in-person intensives, and retreats focused on nervous system regulation, connection, and creativity.
Today, Origins Incubator is the most comprehensive mentorship program for physicians who want to create a practice that is authentic, one they can be passionate about, and that is an extension of themselves — while also being financially stable and lucrative.

Scott Rattigan, JD

A former corporate litigator turned healthcare legal expert, Scott founded Functional Lawyer in 2017 to fill a gap he saw firsthand — integrative physicians spending tens of thousands on attorneys who didn't understand their practice model.
Functional Lawyer now provides affordable, practical healthcare law education, templates, and live support to hundreds of healthcare providers. Scott brings clarity to entity formation, compliance, HIPAA, malpractice, contracts, and every legal question that keeps doctors up at night.
Scott's passion are sports and history. You can find him engrossed in a historical biography, reading about stoicism, playing with his sons or most likely, researching new sports to enroll in. (Ask him about his 2 week rugby career!)

With over 20 years educating physicians in integrative medicine, Cheryl is one of the most respected clinical educators in the space. She brings extensive experience from Progressive Medical Center, one of the largest integrative medicine centers in the Southeast.
Cheryl leads the Origins Incubator clinical curriculum, a comprehensive 12-month program featuring weekly live case studies, evidence-based protocols, and 35 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits. She is the reason our members don't just build businesses, they become exceptional clinicians.

As the architect behind Origins OS, she ensures every member has the pipelines, automations, workflows, and financial clarity they need from day one — and she's the reason our clients break through the 30% capacity ceiling and build practices that scale. A Tampa local through and through, Erin gives back through nonprofit board service and community volunteering, and finds her balance gardening, hiking, and spending time outdoors with her husband, her dog, and all the people who make life full.
