About Me
I gained weight gradually as I grew older. Excess weight gain became a very big issue for me during my pregnancies to the extent that I was diagnosed with prediabetes during my last pregnancy in 2018. After the birth of my baby in 2018, I tried to lose weight but it was difficult because I kept justifying my unhealthy lifestyle. I also tried lots of dieting meals but was only effective for a short time and I gained back the weight I lost.
My excess weight had a negative impact on my mental health, I became anxious when going out with friends because I was always of the opinion that people will be looking at the bulges showing on my clothes, I withdrew from my friends to the extent of them noticing that I don't like to go out, I also suffered lots of physical illnesses such as tiredness, body pain, knee pain, irritability. I was not always happy with myself whenever I saw beautiful clothes in the shop but I couldn’t fit into them. Having tried different weight loss pills, diets and meal plans, I could not shed my excess weight. I went to the doctor but my doctor seemed not to take me seriously but was planning to put me on medication to help with my anxiety and mild depression. I took it upon myself to find a solution to my physical and mental illness, I did loads of research online, I read books and listened to podcasts from experts. I did a comprehensive research on nutrition and fitness/ exercise. I went to the extent of taking a fitness and nutrition program where I was certified. I also applied all the theories and practical information I learned to myself. Doing all these helped me get rid of my excess weight, I was able to reverse my mental and physical health with all the skills and information I learnt without using any medication. I can confidently fit into my clothes and always look forward to socializing with my friends and family. Having gained all this knowledge on weight loss , I have used my experience, and knowledge to help myself and some of my friends and family members lose their excess weight. Mariam hold a RPN degree and a fitness and nutrition certificate.
