Hello, I'm Dominiece Cox
I am the President of Better Steps Foundation and CEO of Better Steps Life Skills Center, where I lead with a mission to empower individuals with special needs through life skills training, vocational development, and community engagement.
With over a decade of experience in healthcare and leadership, I have helped more than 500 individuals gain independence through employment, training, and supportive services.
Better Steps has grown to provide Medicaid-contracted programs, career camps for youth with IEP and 504 plans, and community events that have connected hundreds of families to valuable local resources.
I'm currently pursuing a degree in Psychology at Miami Dade College, which combines academic insight with real-world experience to build programs that make a lasting impact.
My vision is to continue expanding inclusive vocational opportunities and establish Better Steps as a model of innovation, care, and empowerment across Florida and beyond.

All participants must be Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) clients to join. Whether it’s learning new job skills, preparing for interviews, or gaining experience in real workplaces this program empowers individuals to take the next step toward independence and success.
We make career readiness and independence achievable for everyone. Our Training Development Skills Program helps individuals gain real-world experience, build confidence, and prepare for meaningful employment opportunities across Florida.

Better Steps Foundation Brings Holiday Joy to Miami Families at 4th Annual Toy Drive
The Better Steps Foundation proudly hosted its 4th Annual Toy Drive on December 7, 2025, at Coach Sam Burley Park, formerly known as Southridge Park, located at 11250 SW 192nd St, Miami, FL 33157. The event served as a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared goal of giving back.
From the moment families arrived, the park was filled with excitement, laughter, and holiday cheer. Volunteers greeted guests with warm smiles. Children eagerly waited to receive toys. The spirit of the season was alive and strong.
A Mission Rooted in Community and Compassion
The Better Steps Foundation continues to focus on creating opportunities that uplift families and strengthen neighborhoods. The annual toy drive is one of the foundation’s most meaningful initiatives, designed to support children and parents during a time of year that can be both joyful and challenging.
For many families, the holidays bring financial stress. Rising costs and limited resources can make it difficult to provide gifts. The Better Steps Foundation Toy Drive in Miami helped ease that burden by ensuring children could experience the joy and excitement that every child deserves during the holiday season.

The event was hosted by Dominiece Cox, whose leadership and dedication played a key role in bringing the community together. Under her guidance, the toy drive continues to grow each year, reaching more families and creating lasting memories.
The event took place from 12 PM to 3 PM, offering families a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly space to gather, celebrate, and connect.

Hosting the event at Coach Sam Burley Park (F.K.A. Southridge Park) allowed the foundation to connect directly with families in the heart of South Miami-Dade. The park’s open and accessible layout created the perfect backdrop for a holiday celebration built on togetherness, generosity, and hope.
Children enjoyed the festive atmosphere while parents connected with volunteers and community partners. The park became more than just a venue. It became a place of shared joy and unity.
