Services

Coaching, like remodeling, is very transactional. You get paid to go into someone's home and renovate their space. You determine what needs to be done by evaluating the space, seeing what the client has in mind and then making your suggestions. If you're a top level performer at this, you go one time for free, give them a price range and then sell them a design contract so that you get paid for your intellectual property. They get a nicely designed project, well executed and with quality materials. You get money to pay your people, yourself and the company makes a profit; or at least you should if you value yourself and provide a quality experience for the client.

My business is very much the same. We have a 30 minute introduction call. Then you choose which package below.

I dig into your business, evaluate your processes and the results of those processes. Then we put together a plan for improvement. It really is that simple, but it won't be easy.

Sales:

Review web presence, presales process through estimating and follow up.

Production:

Review sales handoff to production, master schedule, project scheduling, scope management, project management and closeout process.

Accounting

Review P and L structure, job cost reports, weekly sales report, cash flow reports and general observations.

Estimating : I can help you set up a profitable estimating system that you can eventually pass on to a dedicated team member. We’ll cover other essential topics including: cost, markup, margin, job autopsies, contract language, terms, formatting, and invoicing to ensure smooth cash flow. Estimating is where profitability planning begins

Design Build: If you’re running a successful company and want to transition to a design-build model where you’re paid to write estimates, I can help you take the steps required to make that move.
More about how I did it here. This service will help you shift from offering free estimates to getting compensated for the time required for preparing an accurate estimate.

Market Analysis :Looking to upgrade your client base? Tired of clients who scrutinize every minor cost? I can help you attract a higher-end clientele.

Sales Coaching: Would you like to be more selective about your clients? Or learn effective responses for potential clients who say, “Jimbob is 20% cheaper”? Improvement requires guidance—sales coaching provides that structure. The process is straightforward, but mastering it takes effort.

Production

Managing construction projects for profitability and client satisfaction requires skill in scheduling and process, not just construction know-how. While knowledge is crucial, scheduling and process experience can make a greater impact.

Most residential construction business owners struggle to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with zero punch lists, often shifting blame onto clients. However, everything on the job is ultimately the project manager’s responsibility.

Change orders are a common source of profit shrink in residential construction/remodeling. Having a clear process for identifying necessary change orders and charging appropriately is vital to maintaining the profit planned in the estimating phase.

Let me help you increase your profitability by training you and your team on managing projects for scope and profitability while keeping client satisfaction at the front of mind.

Reports:
Are you able to read and interpret all the key reports for your business? A P&L should be straightforward, with minimal ambiguity around expenses or costs. Can you generate job cost reports by project to see exactly where every dollar went? Do you have systems in place to manage receipts and invoices efficiently to get them into your accounting software?

We can help set up and train you in QuickBooks Online, covering everything from setup to cleanup. We’ll establish systems, create processes, and train your team so they can manage the platform effectively.

I built my own remodeling company from scratch and learned all my lessons the hard way. I spent years and tens of thousands of dollars learning from trial and error.

Let me help you shorten the learning curve. Get started with your complimentary 30 minute phone call and let's see if we are a good fit for each other.

For package services, these are the details of what is included and the cost associated with these plans...

The All in

$3500 top to bottom evaluation of Sales, Production and Accounting processes.

The time would be split between the various departments. Provide a report on the process outlined below and the top 3 action steps for each one. The main purpose of this is to evaluate where you are currently so that we can plan for improvement in each area.

Sales:

Review web presence, presales process through estimating and follow up.

Production:

Review sales handoff to production, master schedule, project scheduling, scope management, project management and closeout process.

Accounting

Review P and L structure, job cost reports, weekly sales report, cash flow reports and general observations.

Two, one hour phone calls to review the report are included. Payment is 50% to start, 25% after evaluation and final 25% upon deliverable being sent.

I am available to further help establish processes and procedures or coach on improvements at an hourly rate of $150 an hour booked in 5 hour increments.  Our regular hourly rate is $200. Administrative assistant rate $50.00 per hour. Generally speaking, you could budget 60-100 hours to go through your whole company and implement your plan for the improvement of those processes as well as ongoing coaching. So roughly $15,000 if we walk through all of this, and that would take 8-12 months.

If you were to be able to improve your profitability by a modest 3% would it be worth it? What if we improved by 7%? My guess is we can probably help you improve by a lot more than that. I helped one company that was doing 1.5 million in remodeling with about 45k in profit. Yes, 45k was all he made and he had 125k in vendor and sub debt and 45k in credit card debt. In 18 months he went to 0 sub and 0 CC debt and made 115k in the first half of the year.

Baby steps

Two one hour coaching calls with you,the business owner.

Colaborate to establish a 5 step process for improvement based on our calls. $1500. 50% to start, balance upon completion. This option puts a lot of the data gathering on you instead of me. In the long run it's less efficient but it’s less expensive up front.

I am available to help establish processes and procedures or coach on improvements at an hourly rate of $175 an hour booked in 5 hour increments. Our regular hourly rate is $200. Administrative assistant rate $50.00 per hour.

You could budget for initial cost and 2 hours a week and maybe 45 weeks of the year for us to go through your plan for improvement that we incrementally work through. So around 17k for the first year for an ongoing process improvement implementation and business coach.

Dip my toes in

$250 an hour, we talk,

I help tame the chaos.

I will send you an email recapping our conversation and suggested action points. Purchased in 2 hour time blocks. This is helpful and easy to get going. It gives you a chance to test the waters and see if I could be of assistance. I’ve had someone choose this option and then come back after a few meetings and say “Okay, I put a few of the things we discussed into practice and saw an immediate improvement in profitability, I’m ready for more of that!”.
