Standard Bail Schedule For Las Vegas Township Justice Court
The Standard Bail Schedule for the Las Vegas Township Justice Court become effective on September 1, 2011. The schedule sets a standard default bail amount that applies at the time of arrest. The judge assigned to the case, however, has the discretion to adjust the applicable bail amount during any scheduled hearings.

Battery / Domestic Violence- $3,000
Battery / Domestic Violence 2nd - $5,000
DUI- $2,000
DUI 2nd - $5,000
All Other Misdemeanors* - $1,000

Under the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 178.484, 178.4851, and 178.4853, the process of granting bail to an accused person is outlined. Generally, an arrested individual has the right to post bail after their arrest, but this is not an automatic guarantee. While the
U.S. Constitution does ensure that bail cannot be excessive, it does not mandate that bail must be granted in every case. A judge has the discretion to deny bail under certain circumstances. If bail is denied, the defendant remains in custody until the case is resolved or further proceedings are held.
Flight Risk: If the judge believes the defendant is likely to flee the jurisdiction and not appear for future court hearings, bail may be denied.
Danger to the Community: If the defendant is considered a danger to public safety or specific individuals (e.g., victims, witnesses), the judge may deny bail to protect the community.
Seriousness of the Offense: For very serious offenses, especially those carrying significant prison time or involving violence, bail may be denied.
Previous Violations of Bail Conditions: A history of failing to comply with previous bail conditions, such as missing court appearances, may influence the judge’s decision to deny bail.
Nature of the Charge: For certain charges, particularly serious felony crimes or violent offenses, a judge may decide that bail should not be granted.
Risk of Reoffending: If the judge determines the defendant may commit additional offenses while out on bail, they may deny bail.
