LET'S TALK ABOUT BECOMING THE CLINICAL SUPERVISOR CLINICIANS DESERVE

Clinical supervision is more than oversight—it’s the foundation for how clinicians grow, practice, and show up for their clients. Because the quality of your supervision doesn’t just impact clinicians—it shapes the care clients receive and the next generation of professionals in the field.

When clinicians turn to you for guidance in high-stakes moments, will you know how to lead them ethically and confidently?

That’s Exactly Why We Created This Training

Clinical supervision rarely unfolds in clear-cut, textbook scenarios. It shows up in real-time decisions—giving difficult feedback, navigating power dynamics, managing risk, and supporting clinicians through complex cases where the right path isn’t always obvious. To be an effective supervisor, we need to move beyond theory and equip you with practical, structured approaches to leading supervision with confidence, clarity, and ethical integrity. So you can support, challenge, and develop clinicians in a way that truly shapes their growth—and the care they provide.

Training Objectives:

  • Define the roles, expectations, and ethical responsibilities of clinical supervisors.

  • Compare and apply various models of supervision.

  • Conduct culturally responsive and trauma-informed supervision.

  • Deliver constructive feedback and performance evaluations.

  • Identify legal and ethical risks in supervisory relationships.

  • Create supervision agreements and implement effective documentation practices.

  • Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development as a supervisor.

Full Course Description

A closer look at what you'll learn

This course is a comprehensive one or two-day virtual intensive designed for licensed mental health professionals, social workers and professionals who are currently serving in — or preparing to step into — supervisory roles. Clinical supervision carries significant ethical, legal, and professional responsibility. This training equips participants with the foundational knowledge, structured frameworks, and practical skills necessary to supervise with confidence, integrity, and competence.

Grounded in established supervision models and current ethical standards, this course moves beyond theory to address the real-world complexities supervisors face. Participants will examine developmental, integrative, collaborative, structural, strategic, and solution-focused approaches to supervision while learning how to apply these models flexibly across supervisee developmental stages. Special attention is given to the dual role of the supervisor as mentor and gatekeeper, with clear guidance on evaluation, documentation, risk management, and liability considerations.

This training also emphasizes culturally responsive, trauma-informed supervision practices that promote equity, professional growth, and client protection. Participants will build skills in delivering constructive feedback, navigating difficult supervisory conversations, addressing impairment and burnout, and managing boundary complexities. Through interactive discussion, case-based analysis, structured role-play, and reflective exercises, attendees will develop practical tools including supervision agreements, documentation templates, evaluation strategies, and a personalized supervision philosophy statement.

By the end of this 6 or 12-CE training, participants will leave with increased clarity in their supervisory identity, strengthened ethical decision-making skills, and actionable systems to support supervisee development while upholding professional standards. This course is ideal for clinicians seeking to formalize their supervision practice, pursue board approval, or enhance their leadership capacity within clinical settings.
