Literacy Support Group

This literacy support group is for parents or caregivers with children ages 0-5.


Our Literacy Support Group is a parent-led and professionally facilitated support group program that gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to share in each other’s challenges and successes with being their child’s teacher at home while developing your own toolkit to support your child’s literacy needs.


PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

• Creating and enhancing social connections

• Enhancing parent resiliency through interaction with peers and professionals

• Allowing parents to discuss frustrations and share successes

• Increasing knowledge of teachable moments and child development

• Promoting early literacy

• Increasing access to concrete support in times of need

MEETING GUIDELINES

• Facilitators guide group discussions and activities

• Sign in with your first and last name

•Members each have equal voice, ownership, and opportunity for involvement

• Respect and listen to each other

• Maintain privacy & confidentiality of members and support group discussions
