GGI Turbines achieve ISO 9001
GGI Turbines was founded in 2013 with the aim of supporting and meeting the
requirements of industry service providers for GE gas turbines with on-site
instrument maintenance/calibrations and control panel commissioning/software
modifications. They provide complete GE Speedtronic ™ controls coverage from
MKI through to MKVI controls systems.
They were aware that to win more business they would need ISO 9001 and so they
organized a gap analysis and then determined what processes they needed to
control. The Business Manager, Lynne McCulloch, wrote these up as procedures
along with the mandatory six procedures needed at that time to achieve certification.
Their consultant Cath Macneil then reviewed them and later reviewed their Quality
Manual. Their initial idea was to carry out internal audits using one of their own
directors, who had been trained in auditing in a previous life, however, it soon
became apparent that their services were in such great demand that this was
impractical. As a result, their consultant stepped in and carried out audits to ensure
that their documented systems worked in practice.
All was in order and so they organized their certification audit. Success was
achieved on 4th December 2015 when their LRQA auditor recommended them for
certification. Now they would be able to bid for more contracts.
We at Adamswell Business Consultants asked Lynne if the process had been
worthwhile. Her answer was slightly unexpected, that yes, that was useful but that
the most benefit that GGI Turbines had got from the process was the management
information that they now had at their fingertips because of having a system in place.
They were able to tell how many requests for assistance they had been able to
respond to, which they had not and the reasons for not being able to respond, e.g. all
engineers already on contract elsewhere or a specialism that they weren’t able to
support. This means that they are able to determine solutions, be that employing
more engineers, or ensuring that 2016’s training programme meets the needs of
their customer base. Now they can say with confidence that “GGI fully understands
our clients …..and we are fully committed to delivering a high level of integrity in
every aspect of our business”
Parker Hannifin’s Success Story
We are pleased to announce that Parker Hannifin in Hillington Glasgow has successfully completed
their transition to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
Parker started their transition journey with Adamswell Business Consultants in February, using a series
of management workshops to determine the context of the organization, the interested parties and
the risks and opportunities for their business.
They used the output from the workshops to re‐frame their management manual while using this as
an opportunity to integrate their three management systems into one all‐encompassing system,
reducing the documentation burden. The documentation was ready in May and after
implementation, audits were undertaken to ensure that this was effective.
The implementation was not onerous as most of the tasks had not changed dramatically and all the
operators and staff were aware of the need to change. Parker Hannifin already collected data daily
from their key processes; production output, sales order input, non‐conformance in the processes,
incidents and accidents etc. Data was always analyzed monthly and action plans put in place to
improve. The information from the workshops helped to influence the business objectives which are
part of the monthly analysis.
We are not surprised that they have managed the transition so smoothly and know that the changes
to ISO 45001 won’t cause them any concerns.
Well done Parker!
Congratulations to Value Added Business Solutions
Adamswell Business Consultants Limited (ABC Ltd) would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate VA Business Solutions (VA) in being recommended for both ISO 14001 and BS
OHSAS 18001 certification on December 22 nd , only three months after launching the
expansion of their existing management system.
They had already held ISO 9001 certification for 18 months, however, were anticipating that
more and more potential clients would be requiring Health & Safety and Environmental
certifications.
VA Business Solutions is a fast growing, mid-sized consultancy firm that’s been delivering
value to companies in different sectors around the world since 2002. Their value-add is to
help businesses successfully deliver results through change programmes.
With a focus on business turnarounds, they pride themselves on providing real solutions, not
just reports. This means that the focus on knowing the environmental and health and safety
risks associated with their clients is more important than for others in their business, and
these new systems enable them to keep this in view.
Flexible in their approach, they work closely with clients to provide a tailored, individual
solution for every business challenge. This coupled with a rigorous attention to detail,
ensures they consistently deliver dramatic return on investment to their clients. This rigorous
attention to detail was obvious as they completed the various challenges any organization
encounters when en-route to ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 certification.
They added the required tasks to their unique project management tool, and made sure that
their consultant, Cath Macneil, (ABC Ltd) was held to account at their weekly meetings.
Tasks checked, new tasks assigned and onwards for another week.
One challenge that VA had in particular is that they operate in several different legal
jurisdictions, with their clients based in North America, EU and the UK. Challenges yes, but
they posed no problem to VA who now have legal registers, which reference the legal
frameworks in the countries in which they operate,, and know where to obtain updates to
these regulations. Another challenge they had was with regards to their responsibilities to
those working for them, both employees and VA. Associates, who operate as independent
contractors. They took the decision to consider the welfare of all of those working for them
and therefore had to ensure that they were all versed, in the two systems requirements, in
their various countries throughout the world.
Excellent job! Well done VA Business Solutions!
