Doggies Last Days Out is a volunteer program where community members take dogs who are at risk of euthanasia out of the shelter for a short adventure — anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day.
These outings might include:
Walks in the park
Car rides with the windows down
Time relaxing at home or outdoors
Playtime and cuddles
Social interaction and love
Peace away from the kennel
Hanging With A Dog On Our Rescue Ranch
Every outing is about giving comfort and giving hope.
When dogs leave the shelter, something incredible happens. They relax, They smile, Their personalities shine. And when they’re photographed and shared during their outing, they suddenly get noticed. This program helps by: Reducing fear and stress, Improving confidence and behavior, Showing dogs in happy, loving environments, Increasing adoption interest dramatically, Giving them exposure outside the shelter. Many dogs who were scheduled for euthanasia are adopted after being seen on outings. Sometimes this program doesn’t just give a dog a good day. It gives them a future.
You’re not just giving them a walk.
You’re giving:
Love
Peace
Comfort
Joy
Visibility
A chance at life
Shelter environments can be stressful, loud, and overwhelming. Many amazing dogs are overlooked simply because they’re not seen outside of a kennel.
When you take a dog out:
They decompress and relax
Their personality truly shines
They get content that helps them get adopted faster
They’re seen by people who may never visit a shelter
💬 “One great day can lead to a forever home.”.
