Which injectable is right for you?

There are two main types of aesthetic injectables we use at Shape Aesthetics + Wellness; Neuromodulators and Volumizers. Neuromodulators decrease muscle movement to prevent and minimize wrinkles. Volumizers improve the loss of fat and restore structure to the area.

By design, cosmetic injectables minimize the signs of aging effectively, but there are distinct differences in the types of products, how they are injected and the amounts used for each patient to achieve the desired results. Shape Aesthetics prefers to use the Galderma line of products as their complex characteristics are capable of addressing all aging and rejuvenation problems comprehensively and work together for beautiful, natural results.

Neuromodulator

Dynamic wrinkles form where your muscles’ regular movement creates folds in your skin. These dynamic wrinkles, if untreated, become static wrinkles which are obvious when muscles are resting. Common dynamic wrinkles are crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines.

Expectations

There is no downtime associated with the neuromodulator procedure; in fact, it is considered a “lunchtime” procedure because clients can immediately return to their daily routines. It takes about 3-7 days for the neuromodulator to take effect, giving the client a smoother appearance and an overall refreshed look. Around 4 months, you will slowly start to see the movement return to the treated area, and this would be the time for you to schedule your next appointment.

Volumizer

Dynamic wrinkles aren’t the only facial folds that come with age. Natural fat and bone loss cause deeper wrinkles and creases, such as seen with nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin creases. Similar issues caused by the same volume loss can be found in thin lips, sagging jowls, hollow cheeks, and tired skin.

Used in combination, Dysport® (equivalent to Botox®), Restylane Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid), and Sculptra® (Collagen Inducer) return this volume loss in a natural-appearing rejuvenation when injected properly and in adequate amounts. One syringe of filler or 20 units of just Dysport doesn’t usually cut it in most cases.

Expectations

Volumizers are considered to be a fountain of youth for many. Here at Shape Aesthetics + Wellness, you can expect a more youthful & voluminous appearance. Of course, expectations depend on what the client is looking for, whether they choose to do full facial rebalancing or get a quick plump lip. We have many different providers to choose from & we always start with a consultation to make sure we can fully meet the client’s wants & needs. Do note that the lifetime of filler can vary anywhere from 4-7 months depending on the area injected & how the client metabolizes the product.

Collagen Inducer Injectable

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen, the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue, for results that can last up to two years. Sculptra® works with your body to stimulate collagen production lost to aging, rebuilding and reinforcing your skin’s structural foundation. A series of treatments, typically about three sessions over a few months, restores the support and volume of youthful-looking skin, providing results that can last up to two years.

Sculptra® is made with a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by a trained specialist. The specialist injects the Sculptra® treatment into the appropriate dermal plan, where collagen strands support your skin’s structure. Over time the Sculptra® will help the body reproduce lost collagen. The number of treatments and injections per appointment varies from person to person and is decided upon a consultation, depending on how much collagen has been lost.

Recently, Sculptra® has been approved by the FDA for body contouring. For those desiring more fullness in certain body areas, Sculptra® is a great non-invasive treatment method. Scultra® in the body is a great option for people targeting volume loss, sagging, dimpling, wrinkling, etc. When injected into the targeted area of the body, the solution restores volume, stimulates collagen, and produces a plumping effect.

Expectations

While Sculptra can also be categorized as a volumizer, it can actually treat the underlying cause of facial aging by stimulating the production of new collagen. Sculptra will continue to maintain the skin’s structural integrity while giving a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance.

Sculptra results will appear gradually over time & the client will expect to start noticing these results by weeks 4-6; these results will continue to improve for up to 24 months. This treatment is non-invasive and can take about 45 minutes, depending on what the client’s expectations are.
