Hey, I'm Jen β€” Certified AI consultant,

17 Years in the Game | National Sales Trainer

I've been in this industry for 17 years. I've achieved Million Dollar Club status my entire career, trained over 400 agents, and currently serve as a National Sales Trainer helping agents across the United States.

When I first started, I took rejection PERSONALLY. Client says "I can't afford it"? I'd get defensive. They say "Call me back later"? I'd take it as a brush-off and give up. I'd let objections control MY energy instead of controlling the CONVERSATION.

It took me years to master objection handling, build unshakable confidence, and help my agents build sustainable six-figure incomes. And once I figured it out, I knew I had to scale it beyond my time.

That's why I became a CPD Certified AI Consultant and joined the International Association of Artificial Intelligence Consultants (IAAIAC). When somebody says "I can't afford it," they're asking "Is this worth my money?"

When they say "I need to talk to my spouse," they're asking "Can I trust this decision?"

When they say "I already have insurance," they're asking "Why do I need MORE?"

Once I learned to ANSWER the real question instead of FIGHTING the objection, everything changed.

And now? I'm teaching other agents how to do the same.

The 3 Deal-Killing Objections

And exactly how I turn them into commission checks

Objection

"I Can't Afford It"

When somebody says they can't afford it, they're usually saying one of three things:

"I don't see the value yet" β€” You didn't build enough need

2

"I got the money but I ain't spending it on THIS" β€” Priority problem

3

"I'm genuinely broke right now" β€” Real budget issue

People will find money for what they VALUE. They got money for Netflix, nails, eating out, the new iPhone. If they're telling you they can't afford $50/month for life insurance, what they're REALLY saying is

"I don't value this enough yet."

The 5-Step Method:

Step 1

Take Ownership

"I definitely understand that, Miss Jones. And please forgive me if we showed you something you cannot afford."
Why this works: You just took the pressure OFF them and put it on you. Now they're not defensive β€” they're listening.

Step 2

Reframe Your Job

"I definitely understand that, Miss Jones. And please forgive me if we showed you something you cannot afford."
Why this works: You shifted from 'selling' to 'helping.' Now you're teammates, not salesperson vs. customer.

Step 3

Assumptive Language

"So when you think about paying $122 a month..."
Why this works: You're not asking IF they're buying. You're discussing HOW MUCH they're buying. That's assumptive selling.

Step 4

Offer Options With Dignity

"We're gonna look at some other options and make sure we find something that's affordable β€” something that works for you without causing financial stress."

Why this works: You acknowledged their budget concern without making them feel poor. That's RESPECT. And people buy from people who respect them

Step 5

Trial Close

"Now if we found a plan that you could afford, can you think of any good reason not to do it today?"

Why this works: Binary question. Either they say 'No, I can't think of a reason' (which means YES, let's do it), or they give you the REAL objection hiding underneath.

The Full Script

"I definitely understand that, Miss Jones. And please forgive me if we showed you something you cannot afford. Our job is to make sure we help you find something that you CAN afford.

So when you think about paying $122 a month, and you said that's too expensive β€” I know the end goal is to make sure you don't leave your family with this financial burden.

Here's what we're going to do: We're gonna look at some other options and make sure we find something that's affordable β€” something that works for you without causing financial stress.

Now if we found a plan that would be something you could afford to do, can you think of any good reason not to do it today?"

Power Move (After They Agree)

"Perfect. And listen β€” we can ALWAYS increase your coverage later when your budget opens up. The important thing is you're protecting your family TODAY. Let's get you started."

Why this works: You just closed them on a lower amount AND planted the seed for an upsell later. That's called FUTURE COMMISSIONS.

1. Objection

"I Need to Talk to My Spouse"

  • Translation

    "Can I Trust This Decision?"

This is either real or it's a stall. Here's how to find out:

"What did they say the last time you discussed this?"

Then use their answer to build agreement. Paint the emotional picture:

"This is gonna be a burden left on them. I'm sure you don't want that to be the lasting memory."

The Key Phrase:

"Let's see if you qualify TODAY. Then you'll have something concrete to present to your spouse and show them you took care of business. Now you're covered while you're looking."

2. Objection

"I Already Have Insurance"

  • Translation

    "Why Do I Need MORE?"

Never fight their existing coverage. Validate it, then educate them on the gap.

"That's wonderful! I tell everyone: if you have insurance through your job, KEEP it. It's the cheapest you'll ever get."

The Reality Check:

"You need a policy that YOU own and control, that goes WITH YOU wherever you go. So now let's see if you're able to qualify for a policy that you OWN."

The Solution:

"You need a policy that YOU own and control, that goes WITH YOU wherever you go. So now let's see if you're able to qualify for a policy that you OWN."

Jen's Real Talk

I used to argue with people about price. "What you mean you can't afford it?! You got a car note!" That didn't work. Know why? Because people don't like being told what they can afford.

Stop fighting their budget. Start building their value.

That's the difference between amateurs and professionals. Amateurs fight objections. Professionals REDIRECT them.

Glass half full, baby. Every "I can't afford it" is an opportunity to find what they CAN afford and get paid anyway.
